About this listen

Wind down by escaping into nature. Part soundscape and part bedtime story, The Sleeping World is an intimate journey through ecologies around the world.

Fennec foxes' ears can be up to half as long as their bodies. They use them to track movement across the Sahara Desert, including under the sand. In this episode, we follow a fox as he meanders home to his family through the sand dunes as they slowly shift with the wind.

This is the world in its natural state, defined by seasons, routines, and cycles. By the time the fox is nestled with his pups inside a den dug into a dune, ready to doze, you'll be ready to doze too.

I like hearing the noises that the fennec fox makes, and the narrator has a very calming & soothing voice

Trick me to sleep

Instead of directly trying to get my brain to stop ruminating or focusing on trying to relax I instead felt like I was learning something, listening to facts and I don’t remember hearing the end - I was asleep.

Zzzzz

Perfect for falling asleep! The background audio effects are wonderful- beautifully recorded and blended seamlessly. Nothing here to startle you, all the sounds are natural: rain, gurgling water, soft animal sounds/calls, wind, shifting sand, rustling leaves, etc. The narrator has the perfect voice for lulling the listener into a relaxed state. The narrated subject matter- facts about the featured animal and its natural habitat- is interesting enough to very gently engage your brain… and then send you straight off to dreamland.

I found the subject very interesting and yet it helped me to sleep. I plan to download all in the series.

Soothing, interesting, not cutesy

Five stars for a bedtime story, four for itself. The whole series is great for going to sleep with.

Soothing, informative, immersive, and sleep inducing

The narrator has such a lovely voice. The details shared are fascinating and it's so easy to imagine the natural spaces she's describing, especially with the natural soundtracks. This is such a wonderful way to fall asleep. I look forward to the new releases!
