Publisher's summary

Can a budding young scientist protect the ancient secrets of a saint whilst saving his family from a terrible hidden danger?

Oliver Winter has the January blues. His sister hates him, his parents are always at work, and his keen mind sees through every fairy tale he was ever told. But one night, a mysterious stranger taps at his bedroom window and blows his world apart. Recruited by Enzo, a top agent of the mysterious Order of St. Nicholas, Oliver solemnly promises to do good, all year round.

It seems, though, that not all children have the right stuff. When older sister Megan falls under the spell of the sinister Arthur MacGregor, sworn to discredit and destroy the Order, the entire Winter family are drawn into a perilous adventure. If Oliver and Enzo can’t stop MacGregor’s misfit band, a disturbing twisting of technology threatens to shatter the world.

The Science of Santa Claus is the first book in the incredible saga of the Winter Family. If you know a curious youngster who loves real-world science and cool technology and if you want to inspire family fun and further learning, then get on board.

Great Seasonal Sci-Fi Fantasy

This was a really fun sci-fi twist on the story of Saint Nicholas. This is geared towards older elementary age kids due to the discussion of Santa being real or not. When reading the history of St. Nicholas it says that alien contact may have played a roll in his seemed immortality. My 14 year old son listened to this story and thoroughly enjoyed it and is looking forward to the next book in the series. This is not just a Christmas time read, we highly recommend it!

Great Mix of A Legend, Fantasy, & Science Fiction

This was my first experience with M. G. Knight's work, and I really enjoyed it. I realize that the book's audience was listed as nine-to-twelve-year olds, but I was entertained by the story. The author creatively blended the legend of St. Nick along with a fantasy, which had a scientific edge to it. I recommend this story to others, regardless of their age, who enjoy imaginative adventures. Nathaniel Ascher's narration was great and entertaining. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily posted this review.

How does Santa do it? A tell all ;)

This was a really cool book with a nice scifi take on santa and a worldwide organization for the fostering of arts and sciences. It even has St nicholas himself ;) kind of.

QUITE THE ADVENTURE STORY.

The concept of the story is very interesting and does end up becoming a family affair. l found the beginning of the story disconcerting because in this day and age we are untrusting of kids keeping secrets from parents and getting secret visitors at night BUT that being said l can't think of any other way the author could have written the story. 70 years ago this wouldn't have even been an issue and this book would have been very popular. I do RECOMMEND this book, l think young adults will enjoy it.
Nicely narrated and easy to listen to.
