Solid Storyline • Amazing Side Characters • Great Initial Books • Great Overall Story

I struggled to finish the books. The story line became so predictable. The constant retelling of the items/person value/strength became aggrevating.
I would have been more disappointed if I had used a credit for the series.

it was just okay.

The books are not bad but all the main characters are shitty selfish scared people that can't dodge. Also, if this world was a game people could play no one would. Who would want to escape into a world like ours but more frustrating?

Shitty people, frustrating world

The first six books were stuffed with filler. Every time the hero did something we were taken through stats, every single time. Felt like a book written for teens, with dirty words thrown in. Not worth a credit per book after the first six books. Sum it up in one word? Disappointing.

It was ok, not worth one credit.

I’ve listened to the first 6 books. There’s a lot of room for improvement. The biggest problems I have are that the same terms are used dozens upon dozens of times (asshole knight, the half-imp, fml…) so that it’s just tiresome. Also the narration can sometimes sound like that kid in high school who was called on to read aloud but he didn’t want to so he just read whatever passage as quickly and monotonously as possible. Otherwise it’s decent. I’ll spend credits to finish out the series.

Redundancies but good

I honestly really do not like the main character. For being a guy that used to play games in the real world, it's like he has no idea what to do.
He's constantly making stupid decisions. When he should have a major advantage. He's a cry baby and complains about every little thing

Why is the main character so childish?

to be perfectly honest I don't like giv8ng negative review but her it goes. the side characters are amazing, the narrator is one of my favorites and the only reason I'm continuing thr book, the overall story and idea is great but the MC is super childish.

he's what in his mid to late 20's? but he acts like a prepubecant teen. He gets mad because he doesn't understand basic economics and acts like everything should be handed to him. one example is when he's selling that monster core. The merchant said it's worth 10 and he'd buy it for 7. that is a wicked could deal since the merchant would only make a 3 coin profit on it.

At the beginning of the series he was super impatient and that got him into a lot of shit because if he just relaxed a bit he wouldn't have been to frustrated and he didn't really have anything he needed to rush towards. He was just trying to get into magic school he could have taken a minute.

He is super selfish and then all of a sudden he decides to slow down and has some stupid morals.

I want to like it.

for the love of all that is holy, I recommend writing the level a skill is and then jump to where it leveled to. Writing down each and every skill advancement level going up by 1 point and then saying again it again on the same skill going up by another 1 point 4 times in a row is a waste of space, time, and a useless filter for a good story. the story is solid but some of the mechanics seem weird like taking things from animals killed. there should be some kind of game mechanic where an ability can be learned to take a carcass apart for useful items easier.

your mother would be so proud. please stop

This is just verbalization of a video game but it totally sucks you in. Although I wish he didn’t check his “stats” so much, it’s exciting and action packed.
My only complaint is the language, for a book that is clearly geared toward a young adult audience, they use bad language a LOT.

I didn’t want to like it

I think if the boy would just grow up and start taking responsibility instead of being a greedy little brat he might get something done in this room and come back for me

Is the mc character retardedness

A every cool interesting premise but a hard Hero to love ,in essence he is a winning lazy addiction prone lucky as fuuk fifteen years old who is ruled by stifled moral compass and is focused on self destruction by default lol and after all that fun/ frustration a good read..

fun ,interesting premise
