From the editor-in-chief and managing editor of the Babylon Bee! A millennial seeker travels through a twenty-first century take on The Pilgrims’s Progress with allegorical versions of all our modern vices tempting him along the way—as well as a few timeless personified virtues that just might see him through. Biting satire and uncommon wisdom from the creators of the internet’s most influential comedy site, and an author of national bestseller The Babylon Bee Guide to Wokeness!

Ryan Fleming is a young agnostic reeling from his brother’s death. Though he is deeply angry with God, he makes good on a promise he made to his brother in the final moments of his life: to visit a church at least once. But shortly after his arrival, the slick megachurch’s shoddily installed video projector falls on his head—sending Ryan through a wormhole into another world.

After a narrow escape from the City of Destruction, where the comfortably numb townspeople are oblivious to the fire and brimstone falling like bombs in their midst and destroying their homes, Ryan finds himself on a quest: To make it back to his own universe, he must partner with a woman named Faith to awaken a long-sleeping King—the World-Maker who can make all things new.

Replete with characters ripped straight from the twenty-first century American church—including Radical, Mr. Satan, the Smiling Preacher, and others—this sometimes-humorous, always-insightful trek parallels Christian’s fictional journey in Pilgrim’s Progress. Prepare to laugh, cry, cringe, feel convicted, and ultimately be changed by the time the story ends.

The Postmodern Pilgrim’s Progress is brought to you by Kyle Mann and Joel Berry, the two comedic minds behind The Babylon Bee—which, with 250,000 newsletter subscribers and more than fifteen million page views per month, is the most popular satirical news site on the planet.

I just finished this amazing book. It is profound, encouraging and convicting. It's a bit of C.S. Lewis and George MacDonald spun together. I highly, very highly recommend it.

What an amazing story, and what an amazing voice actor that read the book. Already listened to many audible books, but up till now, I’ve enjoyed this one the most. Great humour, really clever allegories and a chilling story line at times. The book even stopped me in my tracks at times. Then I just had to press the pause button to contemplate, to cry , to pray… It really got me thinking about what our world is coming to and what life is really all about

Absolutely amazing!!

I could never quite made it all the way through the entire Pilgrim’s Progress. Bu this alternate take on the basic outline of the story is great. Modern, funny, and much more enjoyable. And the narrator is super good. Well done!

Better than the original, IMHO

I don't agree with the Babylon Bee guys on everything theologically, but I've got to honestly recognize a well-written story. A nice, even-paced journey through today's allegorical highs and lows, with a brutally honest look at life's toughest questions. Bravo, guys. This was powerful.

Gotta Recognize a Well-written Story

Absolutely worth a read if you want a reminder of what is truly important in your Christian journey. Some good Babylon-bee conservative humor, but also lots of truly important allegories on the various temptations we face in these modern times.

A great, Important Book

I had doubts about their ability to stay faithful to a Christian classic after seeing Babylon Bee interview Elon Musk. No Biblical answer was given Musk when he said the Church believed that breaď & wine changed to Jesus's body & blood. This is a teaching of the Catholic church, transubstantiation, and NOT Biblical doctrine. My hope was they would give Elon a clear gospel message and correct his error.
That being said, this book is very well done, and with humor that carries the reader through a dark tale with what can be hard to grasp theology.

A Refreshing take on a Christian Classic!

Well written, well narrated. Will listen to again. If you can include quotes from The Princess Bride and Blade Runner you have my attention.

Expected nothing less with Kyle Mann's name on it

Great story brought up to date. The wit and satire makes the story even more engaging.

Very enjoyable and though provoking

This book was incredible in more ways than I can say. It made me laugh, cry, and think long and hard about views about Jesus and this road we are all on. I could not love this book more and will read again and again. So sad it’s over.

Modern adaptation of 'Pilgrims Progress' first published in 1678. This was enjoyable and should be considered for inclusion in readings for our children.
