Publisher's summary
Growing up in a lighthouse on a remote island, Orca Monroe has lived isolated from the world . . . until one day when she finds a cell phone washed up on the beach. Orca has her first conversation with Jack Stevenson, a young man whose older brother, Adam, has gone missing after crashing his seaplane off the coast. Orca becomes Jack's lifeline and his reason to hope that Adam is still alive.
One stormy night, Orca finds Adam Stevenson collapsed on her doorstep. As she nurses him back to health, she finds herself spellbound by his inquiring mind and rugged good looks. Simultaneously, Adam is captivated by her wild beauty and pure heart. But with a ten-year age gap between them—and her father's determination to keep Orca protected from outsiders—Adam knows they can never be together.
Resigned to give Orca up, Adam returns to the mainland-but Jack refuses to leave her trapped at the lighthouse. Blind to the fact that his brother is in love with her, Jack offers to show Orca the world she's always dreamed of. But when she leaves her island for the first time, Orca begins to realize that the mainland may hold more dark secrets than she ever imagined . . . and the two brothers she helped bring back together may be the very people she tears apart.

1828. Robin Swift, orphaned by cholera in Canton, is brought to London by the mysterious Professor Lovell. There, he trains for years in Latin, Ancient Greek, and Chinese, all in preparation for the day he’ll enroll in Oxford University’s prestigious Royal Institute of Translation—also known as Babel. Babel is the world's center for translation and, more importantly, magic. Silver working—the art of manifesting the meaning lost in translation using enchanted silver bars—has made the British unparalleled in power, as its knowledge serves the Empire’s quest for colonization.

Story
Clementine forms a plan to keep her heart safe: work hard, find someone decent to love, and try to remember to chase the moon. The last one is silly and obviously metaphorical, but her aunt always told her that you needed at least one big dream to keep going. And for the last year, that plan has gone off without a hitch. Mostly. The love part is hard because she doesn’t want to get too close to anyone—she isn’t sure her heart can take it. And then she finds a strange man standing in the kitchen of her late aunt’s apartment.

A perfect feel good story you can’t let go!
This book was so much more than I expected. I have listened to it eating breakfast, lunch and in the evening in front of the fire place.
I disappeared in to world by Abbie Emmons before I hade time to blink.
The dynamic between the main characters are very well done, and the multilayered intrigue lifts the book to the next level!
Tank you Abbie.

I love this author
Abbie Emmons does it again in another epic romance. she always has the character you love and the one that gets under your skin. I'm totally team Adam, Jack is annoying. I like how it seems like a Little Mermaid retelling, I'm not sure if she planned that. I 100% recommend.

love the communication skills!
I absolutely adore and love how there's good communication skills, emotional intelligence, and an air of good reason to the character's decisions or at least there's a reason for what they do. and I absolutely love that. I personally don't read enough books that have this level of reason. thank you so much for planning your book so much, I hope that I can make a book like that. a work of art like that, where everyone properly explains themselves according to their character. I just love it, to me it's a sign of good writing for sure!! and you ARE A GOOD WRITER ABBIE EMMONS!!!

A profoundly beautiful story of love and family
The Otherworld is so much more than a love story— it is a profoundly beautiful story of family, friendship, and the long-lasting impacts our decisions have on others. This book made me laugh, cry, and feel SO MUCH for the characters! The incredible performances by the narrators had me captivated from start to finish! These are the kinds of stories we need more of… do yourself a favor and listen to The Otherworld, you won’t regret it!

Excellent story. Highly recommend.
Excellent listen. Surprising, genuine, perfect pace, well written. Took some getting used to for the readers but after a few chapters it was fine. (Only mention because I almost didn’t buy it because of that and it would have been a shame to miss this so if anyone else is hesitant, don’t be. It’s worth the listen.)

An unworldly perfection
I love every word of this book. Tension, pure happiness, aching sadness, anticipation, fresh air.... EVERYTHING feels.
Abbie Emmons has the gift of making the reader forget they're reading and totally immerse themselves in the story during which all of it feels so damn real.
When you dive into this book you come out at the end a different person.
