About this listen

Retired jewel thief Felicity O'Brien travels to her native Ireland to defend her uncle's Catholic parish. With her is her partner, Morgan Stark, a retired mercenary soldier. The job looks easy until they meet Ian O'Ryan, an IRA terrorist who believes he is the reincarnation of Orion the ancient hunter. He is determined to keep the violence alive in Ireland and to spread it throughout the island. To avoid bullets, bombs and beatings, Stark and O'Brien rely on a special gift, a psychic link that alerts them to danger. But against O'Ryan they face danger from an entire army of enemies. Trying to separate patriotic mercenaries from heartless terrorists leads them to a sniper mission on the rocky Irish coast, a deadly high speed motorcycle race in Belgium, and a final confrontation on an island off the coast of France where Stark could die by slow torture if O'Brien doesn't find him in time.

Bullets and Bombs!

The Orion Assignment by Austin S. Camacho kept me engaged with this fast paced listen. I love how the author used unexpected allies for this thrilling listen. The story has incredible imagery, danger, intrigue, bullets, bombs, and unexpected twists, everything I love in a great thriller. Charles Kahlenberg was great bringing the characters to life. He inflected the right emotions. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator.

Terrorism and action

As always, I have to state that this book was given to me for free in exchange for a review.
I always like to state that this does not impact my review or my opinion of the book. My reviews are honest and my own opinion of the story, performance, and overall thoughts on the book.

This story was really hard for me to connect with, but that is because of my own preferences in novels, so I cannot and will not rate this according to my own preferences.

Now, onto the story. The author Austin does an amazing job of characters descriptors. This book is action pact, from start to finish. From terrorism to a militia, villains, and just all-around action.

The Orion Assignment is a well-told tale of danger, intrigue, capture, escape bullets and bombs -- it'll keep you biting your nails right to the end.

High-speed action!

Another thrilling Stark and O’Brien adventure by Austin Camacho. I’ve listened to two other stories from this series and have always enjoyed them. This tale is no different. The exciting cat and mouse chase take us to Felicity’s Ireland home town to help her only remaining relative. Morgan gets in tune with his inner self for a motorcycle race in Belgium. Then it’s on to Paris for the showdown. The bond that Felicity and Morgan share is remarkable but the compassion and loyalty they have for each other are amazing. Felicity’s intelligence and tenacity are a perfect match for Morgan’s ferocity and skill. The relationship binds the story together into a compelling whole. Amazing Action Yarn. Camacho does it again!

“The Orion Assignment: A Stark and O'Brien Thriller”
Author: Austin S. Camacho
Publisher: Intrigue Publishing, LLC (June 17th, 2008)

Narrator: Charles Kahlenberg
Audible.com Release: May 28th, 2018
Length: 7 hours and 2 minutes (Unabridged)

The first in a three-book-series, The Orion Assignment is a brilliant, exciting, and action-filled title focusing on the exploits of Morgan Stark, a tough-as-nails mercenary and Felicity O’Brien, an Irish jewel thief. They join forces to bring down a terror ring led by the formidable O’Ryan- an insane leader who believes that he is Orion incarnate. Their escapades lead them all around Ireland and France as they try to outwit, outmatch, and undo the terror O’Ryan (Orion) perpetuates on innocent souls.

The Orion Assignment is masterfully read by Kahlenberg. With a silky-rich baritone and Irish brogue Camacho’s well-crafted and believable characters will jump off the page into your ears leaving you wanting more and, unfortunately, you can only read books two and three. However, Kahlenberg does narrate over 20 books and hoping he will continue with the Stark and O’Brien series.

You will not be able to breathe, let alone, stop listening to this feckin wopper; Camacho does it again and Kahlenberg brings it home!
