Super fun listen

Great story, always exciting. I had a hard time pressing pause when I had to go back to work or sleep. It's an audio page turner, if you will.

good stuff

Some reviewers call this derivative--Crichton, maybe, or Cussler, but of course all those go back much further, to King Solomon's Mines and other Haggard tales, which most likely come from the Arabian Nights before that. This is a good addition to that pantheon and should be judged on its own merits. Sure, it may be a bit contrived, but it goes to good places and asks more than the obvious questions, and provides plenty of good action along the way.

Artfully developed

Great story. Artfully developed. Just the right amount of details. Ray Porter is perfect as usual.

Not Fargo Adventures, But Clever

Would you consider the audio edition of Ramsey's Gold to be better than the print version?

Yes, as reader brought Jack and Spenser to life in the first 1/2 of book. Thanks Audible for 1st in series sale. I was able to check out new authors and readers.

Note: I do use new 1.25x speed to match the author's intent.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

well for me Mr Blake used his talents on the Clussler series, then when he was able to go on his own, he had to go the opposite direction from the Fargo characters. This is Ok for me as 3/4 of story was fast paced, strong characters and good dialogue and worth the listening time.
However, the last 1/4 lead up to next in series, good, but the dialogue was a bit too mushy for me. Therefore, I don't feel incline to go to book #2 hence the 3 stars (4 or better stars are re listens for me.)

Which character – as performed by Ray Porter – was your favorite?

Jack was great.
My apologies to Mr Porter who reads the Flat Spin series, he is great in his own right.
I made a mistake on a possible AKA. I stand corrected.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Loved the Jack scenes. Editor, please take note as more is needed.

Not Entertaining

The description sounded interesting as a fan of other similar stories but the progression of the main character is really poorly done. He seems to go from a nobody to an action start without any effort. I found the story predictable, simple and unoriginal.

Fun, fast and makes me want more

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The narration was fantastic, the characters were entertaining and the plot was fast-paced. I will be listening to the next book in the series immediately. Definitely worth the credit.

A Cliche Adventure with Great Narration

I got this via a Daily Deal, and it was worth the price for that, but it's not worthy of a credit. The story and characters are all okay, but there's nothing exceptional. Just think Indiana Jones minus the charm and flair of the Ford/Spielberg/Lucas amalgamation. Cliches are rampant in this adventure story from quick attainment of necessary abilities to main characters just barely escaping with their lives a dozen times over. There's also the damsel in distress and a treasure worth billions. Drake also had this amazing ability of coming up with the right answers at just the right times a little too easily for me to buy into it all.

Ray Porter is a talented narrator. He has great ability to differentiate characters, nails multiple accents, and adds depth to characters the way only a great narrator can. I'd easily listen to more works narrated by him.

I recommend this to people who like cheesy adventure novels or if the book is on sale again and someone is looking for moderate-quality entertainment.
