About this listen

Never be alone again

In a dying railroad town, a conjoined twin wallows in purgatory for the murder of his brother. A disgraced surgeon goes to desperate ends to reconnect with his lost love. When redemption comes with a dash of black magic, the two enter a world of talking corpses, flesh-eating hogs, rude mimes, and ritualistic violence.

Dark & twisted tale

This was one dark, twisted and strange story. From talking corpses, killer pigs, angry mimes, filth, stink, curses and so much more. One of the strangest stories I've ever listened to but somehow it works. Now I feel like I need something light and airy to clear the darkness this story put in my brain.

A disgustingly good time!

Daaaaaaang! Killer pigs, conjoined twins, evil texts, this book has it all. And this Rain Corbyn who reads it does a KILLER job, lots of great character voices. It’s short, but a great time.

Chilling Tale in a Dark World. Great Narration!

I had great fun diving into this short tale of desperate people doing desperate and dark things. Quenell does a great job painting weird characters in a strange and dark world. Excellent narration by Rain Corbyn immersed me in the vivid descriptions of drunken carnies clumsily enacting their bloody, sinister plot. It's like Wile E. Coyote meets Clive Barker. I felt like I needed a shower after listening to the top-notch narration. I especially loved the character voices.

Creepy and Unique

What could go wrong in a traveling sideshow? Everything and anything when death comes from one of the sideshow inhabitants especially conjoined twins. I must say this book is one of the most unique gore filled horror tales I have read/listened to lately. Rain Corbyn I have no words for this narrator but absolutely phenomenal his many voices and mannerisms were on point. If you like horror, gore and demons this book is for you. I received this book for free from Audiobooks Unleashed and this is my honest unbiased review.

Dull. Robotic narrator.

The blurb made this sound more intriguing than it ended up being. It is packs the following vibes:
Horror
AHS: Freak Show
Frankenstein
Unethical / crazed doctor
Small town
Supernatural
It’s okay. Not nearly as interesting as it comes off, very slow-paced and at times, implausible. But I’ve read/heard worse.

2 stars.
Based on this read, would I read more from this author? Probably not.

Audio:
Not good.
Narrator does use a couple of different voices/accents at times, but his primary state sounds like AI. Very robotic. The other voice he swaps in sounds like Disney’s Goofy, which makes it tough to take seriously. 1-star performance.
