About this listen

This book contains strong language, and adult themes that may not be suitable for everyone.

Jenny sits in the same seat on the same train every week, seeing familiar faces come and go.

Until a chance encounter shatters her world.

Sixteen years ago, Jenny survived a traumatic ordeal that left her best friend, Susie, missing and presumed dead. The world has its theories about what happened to Susie Patterson, and one of those theories points the finger at Jenny.

Now she lives a quiet life, volunteering at a crisis helpline while trying to deal with her own anxiety and the true crime fans obsessed with finding her missing friend. Then, on the way to her usual shift, Jenny is certain she sees Susie sitting in coach D.

But will anyone believe her?

Seeing Susie plunges Jenny back into a nightmare of forgotten memories and haunting fears. As the past claws its way into her present, she must unravel the truth about what happened sixteen years ago.

But the deeper she digs, the more she realises that some secrets are better left buried.

Seriously?

This plot line is beyond difficult to believe. Was inclined not to finish the last 2 hours, but powered thru hoping it would wrap up more coherently. Sadly, it didn't. The performance was good though.

mysterious

I finished this 11 hour book in 2 days. I was intrigued by the plots and twists. The ending was sad for me, yet satisfying.

Where do I start?

I grabbed this book because it was a freebie with my subscription. I love a good thriller mystery, and the synopsis sounded interesting. I knew that I would most likely like it even though most readers gave it 3 stars. I tend to like things most don't. This book was like watching a telenovela, one moment you think you have it all worked out and then the writer throws all these twists and turns at you. I didn't hate it but it wasn't the best thought-out story towards the end I went with it and am not mad about how it ended. I have to say one thing that was a bit bothersome in the book. The main chick we follow throughout the story has a traumatic brain injury so she forgets a lot surrounding her friend's death and disappearance, and when things start to come back to her she remembers she likes girls and then later down the road in this story makes a statement like, "now that I know I'm bisexual" ummm no that's not how that works. You don't just forget you're bisexual lol. I don't know but that part was highly comical and made me chuckle.

Good listen

I liked this audiobook. I thought the narration was really good and the story was well written, and it kept my attention. I do agree with some of the other reviewers that it did seem to string out and go a little longer than it could've. The way the narrator pronounced says didn't really bother me, but I did notice it because I read it and another person's review. I liked her accent. And I did like the storyline and how it unfolded . It did make you wonder who to trust and who is telling the truth the whole way through. Poor Jenny! Just seems like people took advantage of her and deceived her her whole life. but it seemed like by the end she learned to control her fears.

Great story, a different kind of mystery

This book was a very different kind of mystery. Great characters and added twists. Couldn’t wait until the end but sad the book had to end.

Great

The story was great. I usually know who did it and why within the first 5 minutes. They had me in the dark until chapter 69 or something. I spent so much time enjoying the story and where it took me. It did not disappoint!

I agree with many. Reading it would’ve been easier.

I don’t generally like to give bad feedback, but this particular piece definitely abuses “I says” “he says”, “she says” since I wasn’t reading it I had to listen to it, which really drills it into your brain. Overall story is decent but agree it could’ve been half the length if you removed all the “says”
