About this listen

Luna Matsya is a local celebrity as a trendsetting hairstylist, but she’d prefer to spread her fin in a nice body of water rather than make a big splash around town. She’s starting to believe that her ability to live and walk among mortals is more of a curse rather than a blessing. Especially now that the flashy tent from a touring magic show is blocking her lake. Where’s a mermaid to swim when the slightest mistake can put her in the spotlight?

Ace Conall is infamous for his daring tricks and he plans to make history with an epic illusion before taking a lengthy hiatus. This is a chance for him to finally feel at home after harboring a secret that may be the greatest magic act never revealed. What he hadn’t expected was falling for a smart-mouthed siren tangled up in his plans.

Missing Something

I felt like there was something still to be desired throughout this story. There is insta love in this one, and things move very quickly. The story also feels a little simple and disjointed at times not fully finishing a scene and jumping to another one. We got to see all the work the main female does as a hair stylist, but we didn't get to see the magic shows the main male does. Plus there is lots of talk of leaving Nocturne Falls, so I'm not sure if they officially settle there, but I'm gonna say they do. Overall, I at least felt like I revisited Nocturne Falls.

Wonderful

I actually listened to The Groom catches his Unicorn first but this one was just as good. Jax has definitely become one of my top 5 favorite authors.

Great!

As usual Mr Harrison outshines all other narrators in my opinion to make this delightful "tail" an afternoon delight. My only wish is that Me Painter would PLEASE stop chapter one as the intro to Nocturne Falls. To those of us following her works it is irritating and so repetitive.....I mean really, stop.

Another Home Run for Nocturne Falls Universe

Another beloved story in Nocturne Falls. It was a tear jerker for me. The story was great but also have to add. B.J. Harrison out did himself with even more wonderful voice and especially new accents like the ones he surprised me with in A Dragon Gambles on His Girl and others.

I did not enjoy this book

As I listened to the book, I kept thinking that I had missed a part. I kept having to rewind to make sure that I didn’t skip ahead. I found myself not knowing what was happening. One moment the characters are in one place talking and the next line, the author has skipped ahead to another day in another place without any warning, transition or anything. It was not pleasant for me. I feel like she should have elaborated more on the scene that was already playing out and, poof, she was done and focusing on another scene.

There is no development of the story, the reader does not see how the characters fall in love. And the stubbornness of everyone hiding their supernatural nature from
One another was ridiculous. And since when are the Ellingham’s unreasonable and don’t take into consideration the needs of their citizens? Luna is in physical pain because she cannot safely shift into her mermaid form because she is trying not to be seen by humans and she needs the lake. I don’t see how the Ellinghams would just dismiss this. Honestly, I really dislike the way that Kristen Painter’s beautifully and thoughtfully created town and stories have been warped by this author.

depressing

There was very little story line and too much angst. I love the Nocturne Falls series, but will not listen to this book again.

Don't waste your money

The other Nocturne Falls books have been fun but I was quite disappointed with this one. It was too disjointed and did not hold my attention. I actually kept nodding off. Don't waste your money.
