Publisher's summary

Book four in the blockbuster Maze Runner series that spawned a movie franchise and ushered in a worldwide phenomenon! And don’t miss The Fever Code, the highly anticipated series conclusion that finally reveals the story of how the maze was built!

Before WICKED was formed, before the Glade was built, before Thomas entered the Maze, sun flares hit the earth, killing most of the population.

Mark and Trina were there when it happened. They survived. But now a virus is spreading. A virus that fills humans with murderous rage.

They’re convinced that there’s a way to save those who are left - if they can stay alive. Because in this new, devastated world, every life has a price. And to some you’re worth more dead than alive.

The end is only the beginning.

The Maze Runner, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, and Maze Runner: The Death Cure are all now major motion pictures featuring the star of MTV's Teen Wolf, Dylan O’Brien; Kaya Scodelario; Aml Ameen; Will Poulter; and Thomas Brodie-Sangster. Also look for James Dashner’s edge-of-your-seat Mortality Doctrine series!

“James Dashner’s illuminating prequel [The Kill Order] will thrill fans of this Maze Runner [series] and prove just as exciting for readers new to the series.” (Shelf Awareness, starred)

Had to really pay attention

I thought this book was really going to go into the point when before the flare got to after the flare hit and then give a little more detail about it plus the virus. In a way it did but at the same time it was just another story of two or three people trying to survive it. Good listen but a little disappointed as well. Might have to re-listen, maybe I missed the whole thing.

A little boring

I was more interested in the other books than this prequel. It felt unnecessary and I was waited for it to really climax like the rest of the series but it really didn't. I was a little disappointed.

Leaves too many questions

This story had been like the rest of the series, good story but leaves you worth so many questions.

Story was ok, couldn't get into it fully

The story was ok, but I just couldn't get into it like the Maze Runner books. i didn't really have any connection to the characters. I listen to books while running and enjoy it when the book keeps me involved. However, my mind kept wandering off and I'd realize I wasn't really paying attention to it.

Book good, irritated about missing content

My son and I read these books together, he reads them in book form I listen to them on Audible. There is an additional chapter in the hardcopy book that is not read in Audible that follows the epilogue but is before the preview chapters for the next book. Need to include the hard copy book content in the Audible content.

Good, but very sad.

This book was good, the only thing that I didn't like was how sad, depressing, and downright disturbing it was. If you are going to listen too it, just be prepared for that

Kinda hard to get through

The same fight scene a hundred times. Same words used. Same fight sequence. Same result. Seemed like 80% of the book was Mark getting choked and "twisting his body" to try and get away. By the end of the book, I was ready for Mark to be put out of his misery.

The start of the Chaos

This book is told from the viewpoint of one of the people that lived through the sun flares and the beginning of the spread of the Virus that has overrun the world of the Maze Runner. It shows you want living thru that time was like and reveals who was behind it all. I recommend reading this after you read the original maze runner trilogy due to spoilers being included.
