About this listen

Three times they tried to kill her. Then they hired a professional. She hired Riyria.

When the last member of the oldest noble family in Avryn is targeted for assassination, Riyria is hired to foil the plot.

Three years have passed since the war-weary mercenary Hadrian and the cynical ex-assassin Royce joined forces to start life as thieves for hire. Things have gone well enough until they receive the odd assignment to prevent a murder. Now they must venture into a forgotten corner of southern Avryn - a place whose history predates the empire. As usual, challenges abound as they try to anticipate the moves of an unknown assassin before it's too late.

But that's not their only problem. The countess of Dulgath has a dark secret she's determined to keep hidden. Then there's the little matter of Riyria's new employer...the Nyphron Church.

From the best-selling author of The Riyria Revelations comes the third installment of The Riyria Chronicles. Although part of a series, it's designed to thrill both new listeners and Riyria veterans wishing to reunite with their favorite rogues.

Performed by Bradley Foster Smith, Danny Gavigan, Chris Genebach, Kimberly Gilbert, Alex Hill-Knight, Lise Bruneau, Alejandro Ruiz, Ian Russell, Andrew James Spooner, John Kielty, Peter Holdway, Tanja Milojevic, Brandon Burton, Terence Aselford, Ken Jackson, Nora Achrati, Stewart Crank, Elias Khalil, Zeke Alton, Rayner Gabriel, Michael John Casey, Kay Eluvian, Wyn Delano, and Nanette Savard.

Full Cast vs. solo Narration

I listened to the first two books with just Tim Gerard Reynolds reading. One of the things that brings me back to audible over and over is the amazing Narrators. I feel like an entire cast could not replace the gifted reading of Tim Gerard Reynolds. My note to audible and the authors, stick with the single Narrators! They are gifted entertaining amazing additions to the natural story. Irreplaceable.

Love the Riyria stories.

There is nothing bad to be said about the Riyria stories. They are the best chronicles I have listened to in a while. I hope the author creates more of them. Thank you for them.

Immersive

I’m going to listen to the last one simply because I think the voice acting is great. This isn’t a series I would’ve read in print, I am not the usual audience for this but found it to be very entertaining

How can Royce be such a badass, Yet???

Spoiler alert!!!

Royce has been such a bad ass through this whole study, yet when Hadrian drank the wine and became incapacitated. Where the heck was Royce’s reaction to them being ambushed and set up. The author literally didn’t realize that Royce, being the badass he is, would have grabbed one of the conspirators put a knife to his neck and found a way out of getting sloppily thrown into jail.
I am seriously in happy about how the author can completely leave out what Royce’s reaction to the whole set up was. Just conveniently and lazily lead things in the direction you want without having to describe actions and thoughts. Chapter 5 (4 hours 42 minutes and 39 seconds in. this is the scene I’m referring to)

So far I’ve been impressed with this author and the series, until of this BIG MISTAKE the made me lose a lot of respect and really don’t care to listen to more. How many more times will the author choose to completely disregard the characters side of things that realistically would have happened. Not happy with this words can’t put my unease into words… Boooooooooo!!!!

love this series

The authors world building is worthy of a great TTRPG. And I would play the hell out it if these books were turned into one.
