Publisher's summary

Three times they tried to kill her. Then they hired a professional. She hired Riyria.

When the last member of the oldest noble family in Avryn is targeted for assassination, Riyria is hired to foil the plot.

Three years have passed since the war-weary mercenary Hadrian and the cynical ex-assassin Royce joined forces to start life as thieves for hire. Things have gone well enough until they receive the odd assignment to prevent a murder. Now they must venture into a forgotten corner of southern Avryn - a place whose history predates the empire. As usual, challenges abound as they try to anticipate the moves of an unknown assassin before it's too late.

But that's not their only problem. The countess of Dulgath has a dark secret she's determined to keep hidden. Then there's the little matter of Riyria's new employer...the Nyphron Church.

From the best-selling author of The Riyria Revelations comes the third installment of The Riyria Chronicles. Although part of a series, it's designed to thrill both new listeners and Riyria veterans wishing to reunite with their favorite rogues.

One of the Best Fantasy Series!!!

Riyria Revelations and Riyria Chronicles are two of my favorite Fantasy series! The stories are well written with great plots but it is the characters Royce and Hadrian that really make these stories awesome. They are a such a mismatched pair but somehow work together perfectly.

The Death of Dulgath was a great addition to the series and I really hope there will be other books in the series! Well worth a credit!

More Riyria!

What about Tim Gerard Reynolds and Michael J. Sullivan ’s performance did you like?

So happy that Tim Gerard Reynolds is continuing to narrate these books. He captures Royce and Hadrian perfectly. I'm looking forward the the Age of Myths and hope he narrates.

Any additional comments?

Just loved this installment of Riyria and hope there are more. It was great learning more about Royce. Incredible series, so enjoyable.

Holidays with Riyria are the best.

What did you like best about this story?

I fell in fascination with Royce Melbourne and Hadrian Blackwater during the Riyria Revelations for their witty bromance and heroic machismo. Getting an insight into the budding dynamic during their early partnership was my favorite part of this novel.

The plot is very good as a stand-alone, sharing new legends and lore of the Riyria universe.

Which scene was your favorite?

SPOILER: While in a severely vulnerable state, Hadrian, ever heroic, saves himself as well as the people who put him in this way. Bascially, Hadrian saving the people who drugged him from going any further so that Royce wouldn't avenge him.

Weakest Plot Of Riyria Chronicles

This one starts out very strong and introduces us to a good number of characters. All of which are sufficiently fleshed out and narrated. However, the premise of the plot is very weak, and it isn't helped at all by a very dragged out second act.

Saying it's the weakest isn't saying much since Riyria has been absolutely top notch.

Tim Reynolds is an absolute master narrator and is the icing on top of the two characters we already love, Royce and Hadrian.

Bottom line, if you're a fan of Riyria and want more of Royce and Hadrian, you'll definitely find this title worth it. Just that though, worth it.

Royce learns of his heritage

Another delight to listen to. In this final book of the prequel series, Royce and Hadrian are hired to go to Dulgath to teach the local sheriff how to thwart an assassination of a noble lady. Of course, all is not what it seems when they arrive. Everyone, even the countryside itself has a strangeness about it, with the target being the greatest mystery. Deception as usual, gets the boys into trouble, while Royce learns more about himself.
