Publisher's summary

Why am I so anxious all the time? How do I get rid of these addictions? What the heck is going on inside my head? Who is thinking the thoughts I don’t want to have? Do I even have a choice? What are these sensations in my body? Should I really be medicating them? What is an “awakening”? Why do I feel spiritual?

What if I told you that you already have these answers? What if I said that this whole description is going to consist of questions? Would it even be possible to write a book description entirely in the form of questions? How many more questions will you read before you exit this description?

Welcome to The Bullshit Machine: Transcending the Delusion of Who We Think We Are.

This book has taken me through a journey of self-discovery and helped uncover perspectives about life, health, spirituality, psychology, humanity, and God that I had never seen before, and my hope is that it will help you do the same. It's funny, it's sad, it's inspiring, it's smart, it's open and honest, and it will challenge and expose the beliefs and repetitive patterns that might be keeping you anxious, addicted, and not living a life that you're choosing.

Until an awakening I experienced a few years ago, I had been living an unconscious life in the narrative, rarely looking at how my thoughts and actions were affecting my life situations, relationships, happiness, success, connection to source, and overall environment. When I finally did stop and look, it’s because I was forced to as I was hitting my rock bottom and had no place else to see. At the time, I was drinking 25-30 airplane bottles of vodka per day to bury the anxiety, depression, and self-hate I carried unconsciously for decades and thought a turnaround would be impossible.

How did I get there? Well, that’s what the book is partially about. The other part, the much longer part, is about how I saw through, and continue to see through the delusions that show up in my life, and learned to stop identifying myself with unconscious lies that were bringing a massive amount of anxiety into what felt like my every waking moment.

Who am I? Who have I been? Who and what is putting our thoughts in our minds? Where have I been putting my attention and focus and why? All these things matter, and you’re going to be asking yourself these types of questions while listening to this book. It will be eye-opening, and you’ll be the one opening your own eyes since nobody else can do it for you.

Hopefully, when you’re done listening to this book, you’ll be able to see through the lies, the nonsense, the delusions, and the negative outcomes that, what I call “the Bullshit Machine”, likes to present as who we are. Learn what might be keeping you on the hamster wheel of mediocrity and be reminded how to use the tools you already have to transcend the delusion of who you think you are.

Love. Gratitude. Strength. Peace.

Be higher beings.

its -ful and able! Insightful, relateable, helpful, listenable, readable....

But most of all: it is do-able.
I love the way the author writes as if he is in conversation with the reader. The anecdotes are lifted from everyday life...almost too relateable.
Also, as far as being listenable , yes! The narrator is epic. The concepts in the book remind me of all the Buddhist books I read years ago, but so much better! Just a great offering.

Say goodbye to victim consciousness!

I’ve listened to this book multiple times and the more I listen, the less victim consciousness I have. I never realized how much energy I spent complaining about how other people were the cause of my problems which was helping to create my problems until I read this book. The “bullshit machine” programs us to lie to ourselves to keep the system going and this book helps me to correct that. Nobody is a victim and this book will help you realize that.
