About this listen

After Bourne is ambushed and nearly killed while in Indonesia, he fakes his death to take on a new identity and mission - to find out who is trying to assassinate him. In the process, Bourne begins to question who he really is and what he would become if he no longer carried the Bourne identity.

Across the globe, an American passenger airliner is shot down over Egypt - apparently by an Iranian missile - leaving the world wondering if it was an accident or an act of aggression. A massive global team lead by Soraya Moore is assembled to investigate the attack before the situation escalates. When Bourne's search for his would-be assassin intersects with Soraya's search for the group behind the airplane bombing, Bourne is thrust into a race to prevent a new world war. But it may already be too late.

"Reading a Ludlum novel is like watching a James Bond film...slickly paced...all-consuming." (Entertainment Weekly)

"Don't ever begin a Ludlum novel if you have to go to work the next day." (Chicago Sun Times)

"A hearty serving of meat and potatoes action adventure, just the sort of fare that both Ludlum's and Lustbader's fans relish." (Publishers Weekly on The Bourne Legacy)

reader ruined it

The reader mispronounced several words. And he frequently put the emphasis on the wrong words. For examble, "He held her head as she vomited into the barf bag which he had PULLED from the SEATBACK in FRONT of them." The emphasis being on the least important part of the sentence rather than the most important. It was exhausting to listen to. I would not purchase this reader again.

A little hard to follow.

What did you love best about The Bourne Deception?

None really.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Bourne. A little hard to believe but maybe people like this do exist.

What does Jeremy Davidson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

A well done narration with enough voice variety to keep you interested.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No

Any additional comments?

You really have to pay attention and listen to the series in order. I found it a bit "fractured" if you didn't know the whole Bourne legacy.

A fair book IF you are a Bourne series fan

I'm a pretty big bourne series fan so naturally i got this book without a second thought, should have known though that Eric Van Lustbader is no Robert Ludlum. Its a half decent book but i'm kind of tire of ALL themes being the same, especially in the last 2 books. Eric Van Lustbader needs to come up with some new ideas!

I've always enjoyed the Bourne books. This one doesn't appoint. Great performance and story line.

Good Read

Where does The Bourne Deception rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Another story in the Bourne books that keeps you engaged in the story and the challenges that the super-spec-ops Bourne is forced to face.

What other book might you compare The Bourne Deception to and why?

It fits nicely into the Bourne Thrillers. But when is he going to age and have a real vacation?

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

One of my least favorite performances all-around.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

No

Action Packed, but...

This book is always moving. There is plenty of action for anyone who loves action. The Bourne Deception was a real "page turner" for me. The only problem was the ending... as the story wraps up there were too many loose ends. I like sequels as long as they are good. Unfortunately I feel to continue this story line beyond two novels will be too much.

action packed

this was a decent story but a little too action-packed for my taste. too improbable to really draw me in and some of the terminology is slightly off most modern firearms do not have clips they have magazines. we also don't really need to know that many details on some things in my opinion. but I'm not a writer just an avided listener
