It introduced the world to the now-famous five stages: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. On Grief and Grieving applies these stages to the process of grieving and weaves together theory, inspiration, and practical advice, all based on Kübler-Ross' and Kessler's professional and personal experiences.

Story
The Awakening Heart is a work of love, but at times it took all that I had to write it. I am a private person, so sharing more about myself, especially after being in the public spotlight, was difficult and challenging. Yet, I "knew" that my continuing journey here is not about me. I am to teach others not to fear, but to have hope in God. My commitment to God is sometimes a struggle, however, I can't quit, I won't quit! The Awakening Heart can build your trust and personal relationship with God. And in doing so, it will enhance your life through your own "awakening".

Every one of us sooner or later walks through hell. The hell of being hurt, the hell of hurting another. The hell of cancer, the hell of a reluctant, thunking shovel full of earth upon the casket of someone we deeply loved, the hell of betrayal, the hell of betraying, the hell of divorce, the hell of a kid in trouble...the hell of knowing that this year, like any year, may be our last. We all walk through hell. The point is not to come out empty-handed.... There is real and profound power in the suffering we endure if we transform that suffering into a more authentic, meaningful life.

When Rabbi Naomi Levy came across this poignant letter by Einstein it shook her to her core. His words perfectly captured what she has come to believe about the human condition: That we are intimately connected, and that we are blind to this truth. Levy wondered what had elicited such spiritual wisdom from a man of science? Thus began a three-year search into the mystery of Einstein’s letter, and into the mystery of the human soul.

Die Wise does not offer seven steps for coping with death. It does not suggest ways to make dying easier. It pours no honey to make the medicine go down. Instead, with lyrical prose, deep wisdom, and stories from his two decades of working with dying people and their families, Stephen Jenkinson places death at the center of the discussion and asks us to behold it in all its painful beauty. Die Wise teaches the skills of dying, skills that have to be learned in the course of living deeply and well.

Story
Women growing older contend with ageism, misogyny and loss. Yet as Mary Pipher shows, most older women are deeply happy and filled with gratitude for the gifts of life. Their struggles help them grow into the authentic, empathetic and wise people they have always wanted to be. In Women Rowing North, Pipher offers a timely examination of the cultural and developmental issues women face as they age.

Story
To Love and Be Loved is a firsthand account of Mother Teresa’s last years, and the first book ever to detail her dealings with worldly matters. We see her gracefully navigate the opportunities and challenges of leadership, the perils of celebrity, and the humiliations and triumphs of aging. We also catch her indulging in chocolate ice cream, making jokes about mini-skirts, and telling the president of the United States he’s wrong. Above all, we see her extraordinary devotion to God and to the very poorest of His children.

Story
Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross created her classic seminal work, On Death and Dying, to offer us a new perspective on the terminally ill. It is not a psychoanalytic study, nor is it a "how-to" manual for managing death. Rather, it refocuses on the patient as a human being and a teacher, in the hope that we will learn from him or her about the final stages of life.

What is my gift to the family of the Earth? As he guides us through these questions, Muller weaves poetry with true stories of love, courage, grief, and transformation in order to show how beauty and wisdom come to us at unexpected times.

Get out! Run! We must leave this place! They are going to destroy this whole place! Go, children, run first! Go now! These were the final shouts nine-year-old Kim Phuc heard before her world dissolved into flames - before napalm bombs fell from the sky, burning away her clothing and searing deep into her skin. It's a moment forever captured, an iconic image that has come to define the horror and violence of the Vietnam War. Kim was left for dead in a morgue; no one expected her to survive the attack. Napalm meant fire, and fire meant death.

Insightful
The Blessing of Sorrow is so well-written. It is the kind of book that makes sense of an otherwise devastating experience most of us inevitably endure- the loss of a loved one. It helped me better understand the process of healing. It changed my perspective on the ever-evolving culture surrounding death, grief, & Beyond. GREAT READ!

Moving and Healing
Loosing the strongest woman I know, my Gram, to Alzheimer's a little over a month ago, hit me harder than I expected. This book helped me through my guilt of not being with her the moment she left and helped me realize the blessings I had the last week with her. I wasn't expecting the amount of memories triggered or emotions that flooded over me. Some of which were from past losses I hadn't fully processed over the years. I cried almost every time I listened, but they were healing tears, sometimes even happy tears from fond memories flowed. (Good thing I listened on the way home and not to work). I especially liked the references to traditions of different faiths without condemning any or pushing any as the true answer. The Rabbi's stories and experiences helps one not feel alone and relate to many experiences with loss, not just death. I highly recommend this book to anyone!
