About this listen

The Bed Sheet Serial Killer begins with FBI Agent Rick Clark and his forensic psychologist sidekick, Marty Robin, investigating a number of brutal serial murders committed within a three-year-period. All of the victims are women, and though they share few physical traits, their backgrounds are similar in one important way.

One important way, that is, in the twisted brain of the serial killer.

While Rick and Marty speculate on personal events that may have created this moral monster, the listener becomes, if not sympathetic to the perp, at least more understanding of the role the past plays in creating a cold-blooded killer on a mission to save lost souls.

Impressive Storyline and plot twists

Someone is killing women. It is not obvious what the women’s connection might be but FBI Agent Rick Clark and Marty Robin, Forensic Psychologist, set out to make the connection and capture the killer. Toss in a copycat murder and their work is cut out for them especially when they do discover the connection. Now their time is running out, they have mere hours before the next victim is murdered and it is someone extremely close to them!

The author, Michael Segedy, weaves an intriguing story around a serial killer and those trying to stop him. As the listener, we are given front row seats into the killer’s unsettling reasoning behind the killings. An extremely well-planned plot, Segedy plays on the listener’s emotions to the point there is genuine empathy for the killer. Each character is well-developed, and each interaction is meaningful. The dialog is well done and moves the story forward. The oral “diary” the killer keeps is unique and well-done. The plot twists are chilling.

The narrator, BT Stephenson gives each main character a unique voice; one that invokes the emotions and connections the author desired. The voice of the killer is perfect. The oral diary that the killer gives intermittently worked perfectly with the voice Stephenson gave him. Stephenson spoke clearly and gave a strong and powerful performance.

I have had the pleasure of hearing several of Segedy’s books, but this one touched on several emotions of the listener: hating the serial killer but also having empathy, fear, tension, and so much more. Segedy is an author with impressive talent.
