Publisher's summary

I gaze across the candlelit table into the eyes of the man I love. It’s our anniversary dinner, a celebration of our marriage, of how far we’ve come. But within hours our romantic date has ended in murder…

When I wake in a hospital bed, blinking under the blinding white lights, I hear someone saying there has been an accident. My heart misses a beat when I recognize my husband’s voice. He says I was driving the car. He says I’ve killed someone.

I can’t breathe. I know I wasn’t the one behind the wheel. Tom was.

The love of my life—the handsome, clever man I’ve been married to for five years—has betrayed me. But why? And on the anniversary of our wedding day…

I need to uncover the secrets he’s been keeping. Before I lose my freedom—or my life…

An absolutely gripping psychological thriller packed with jaw-dropping twists. For fans of The Doctor’s Wife, The Marriage and The Housemaid.

Clueless, trite characters

The plot was far-fetched and the main character was extremely shallow. So many rules and laws were broken that could never happen in reality, even with a well-connected dirty politician pulling the strings. It is obvious to me that the author wanted to the reader to conclude that the main character was strong and even went so far as to have everyone tell her that she was strong throughout the book, just to convince us. She was not strong, however, and her extreme weakness and recurrent lapses in judgement leading to poor decisions was infuriating. Overall, I’m not sure I gained anything from listening to this one. I kind of regret that I did.

Not my cup of tea

Didn’t enjoy the narration and the story was extremely unbelievable. Not even a hint of reality-based plot. Some might like it.

it’s a bit cringe

I didn’t care for the narrator’s voices and I felt the story was more suited for young teens getting into suspense. It was all unbelievable because it’s 2024. If this was based in the 1980s and minus the cellphones I might’ve found this more entertaining. I feel bad leaving a negative review but I’m trying to be ok with not liking a book.
