Publisher's summary

I didn’t mean to say I was engaged to a hot billionaire–it just slipped out.

In my defense, I’d had a really bad haircut, a really strong drink, and I was trying to save face in front of the Mean Girl at my high school reunion.

Lucky for me, I happen to know a hot billionaire. Hutton French and I have been friends forever, and even though big social gatherings are not his thing, I called him from the coat closet and begged him for a favor–show up and play my fake fiancé for the night.

Except that word of our engagement spreads like wildfire. Our families are ecstatic. We’re front page news. My little food blog is launched into the stratosphere.

Of course, I offer to set the record straight right away, but Hutton wants to give it a little time–the phony engagement will keep his matrimony-mad mother and every matchmaking granny in town off his back.

He even suggests I move in with him to make the ruse more real.

And we don’t stop there.

We practice kissing. Undressing each other. Saying things–and doing things–we’d never dare if we weren’t pretending. Because it’s all for show, right? We’re just role-playing. Hutton doesn’t want a real relationship, and I don’t want to get hurt. But the more time we spend faking it, the more I start to wonder.

Could Hutton French and I actually be right for each other, or is it all just one big tease?

Enjoyable listen!

Felicity McAllister and Hutton French have been best friends since middle school. She attends their ten-year high school reunion and finds herself trying to impress the mean girl. She tells an outrageous lie about marrying a billionaire (Hutton) and begs Hutton to help her out to save face.

I love how they decided to keep the fake engagement going and both of their families didn't even question it. They knew the two were meant to be together. (Why didn't Felicity and Hutton realize this?)

Hutton has social anxiety. He doesn't like crowds, talking on the telephone and has OC tendencies. Felicity is awkward and adorable. As best friends growing up, they both had feelings for each other, but never acted on it. Now, as adults, it is easier to try a relationship when they both think it's fake for the other person.

I really enjoyed this small town, fake fiancée, friends to lovers romance. I listened to the audiobook and both the narrators were really good.

A love story through the ages

Since middle school these two have loved each other. It takes overcoming each of their own obstacles to be able to finally admit their love. I really liked this story. The characters were relatable. Their love may not be perfect but it’s very romantic, sexual and real.
Good narration.

Friends to Lovers

Felicity and Hutton have been friends since they were children and have both felt more but couldn't take the step out of friendship. They even have their own written code and said they'd be there for each other no matter what. When Felicity needs Hutton to back her up that they're engaged, he doesn't hesitate. This is a chance for a fake engagement to become a real relationship for them if Hutton can get past his fears and Felicity can get over not feeling good enough. I really like this series about the next generation of Cloverleigh Farms. Samantha Summers and Oliver Clarke were great narrators.

Best friends to lovers & fake relationship…love these tropes

Hutton & Felicity are one of those couples who are destined to last a lifetime. These two have been best friends since childhood. The nerd & the band geek just seemed to get each other. They’ve been there for each other through so much & always pick right up where they left off. Their acceptance of each other’s idiosyncrasies & their embarrassing or awkward moments just seems to bring them closer.

When Felicity’s penchant to just blurt things out puts her in a precarious position, all it takes is one coded text to get Hutton to come to her rescue. As the rescue mission ensues, they both find that deep down their feelings for each other are a little stronger than expected. But are these feelings something they can share with each other? Or will the admission from either ruin the lifelong friendship they’ve shared?

I loved the way that both of their families embraced their fake relationship & didn’t seem surprised at all. They all had seen the underlying feelings from childhood & were just waiting on Hutton & Felicity to see it. When these two finally connected…wowza!!!! Hutton the nerd had some skills.

Samantha Summers & Oliver Clarke’s portrayals of these characters was spot on. They drew me in & kept me wanting more and more.

Friends to Lovers!!

This was a great story! Low drama, not no drama, but low on the not needed only to make the story more overly dramatic drama - which is how I like it best … just enough drama. I love a friends to lovers story. Nothing like two really good friends falling into something more - isn’t that what we should all hope for!?!? I did whyspersync and what was good too. Narrators were both great. This is the only book from the series I have read - I may go back and read more - but I did not feel like I was missing anything by not have read them ahead of time.

Good listen

Really liked Hutton with his social anxieties. I liked Felicity a bit less. I think it’s because of the narrator. She used such a high pitched, sing-song teenager type voice that made it hard to listen to. Overall I liked the story and was glad it worked out for them. So far, Ignite is still my favorite of the series.
