About this listen
Our time is almost up.
As the clock ticks closer and closer to the final Partial expiration date, humans and Partials stand on the brink of war. Caught in the middle, thousands of miles apart, are Samm and Kira: Samm, who is trapped on the far side of the continent beyond the vast toxic wasteland of the American Midwest; and Kira, now in the hands of Dr. Morgan, who is hell-bent on saving what's left of the Partials, even if she has to destroy Kira to do it.
The only hope lies in the hands of the scattered people of both races who seek a way to prevent the rapidly escalating conflict. But in their midst appears a mysterious figure, neither human nor Partial, with solemn warnings of a new apocalypse - one that none of them may be able to avert.
The final installment in the Partials Sequence is a thrill ride of epic proportions, as the last remnants of life on our planet fight to determine its final fate.

Story
From Dan Wells, author of the New York Times best-selling Partials Sequence, comes the first book in a new sci-fi-noir series. Los Angeles in 2050 is a city of open doors, as long as you have the right connections. That connection is a djinni - a smart device implanted right in a person's head. In a world where virtually everyone is online 24 hours a day, this connection is like oxygen - and a world like that presents plenty of opportunities for someone who knows how to manipulate it.

Story
John Wayne Cleaver is dangerous, and he knows it. He's obsessed with serial killers, but really doesn't want to become one. So for his own sake, and the safety of those around him, he lives by rigid rules he's written for himself, practicing normal life as if it were a private religion that could save him from damnation. Dead bodies are normal to John. They don't demand or expect the empathy he's unable to offer. Perhaps that's what gives him the objectivity to recognize that there's something different about the body the police have just found behind the Wash-n-Dry Laundromat - and to appreciate what that difference means.

The electrical grid sputtered; law and government collapsed - and more than half of the world’s population was decimated. Where there had been order, there was now chaos. And as the power of science and technology receded, magick rose up in its place.

Convicted criminal James Griffin-Mars is no one's hero. In his time, Earth is a toxic, abandoned world, and humans have fled into the outer solar system to survive, eking out a fragile, doomed existence among the other planets and their moons. Those responsible for delaying humanity's demise believe time travel holds the key, and they have identified James, troubled though he is, as one of a select and expendable few ideally suited for the most dangerous job in history.

Story
When out-of-shape IT technician Roen wakes up and starts hearing voices in his head, he naturally assumes he’s losing it. He isn’t. As of last night, he has a passenger in his brain - an ancient alien life-form called Tao, whose race crash-landed on Earth before the first fish crawled out of the oceans. Over the millennia his people have trained human heroes to be great leaders, to advance our species at a rate far beyond what it would have achieved on its own. Split into two opposing factions - the peace-loving, but under-represented Prophus, and the savage, powerful Genjix - the aliens have been in a state of civil war for centuries.

What would you do if you lived in a world where your every move was scrutinized by your own personal artificial intelligence - a world where everything is regulated, from power usage to relationships - a world where everything you thought you knew turned out to be a lie? Welcome to Tisaia - the last hub of modern civilization in a world left scorched by the nuclear fires of the Biomass Wars. Story
Seventy-five years ago, the dragons fell from the sky. We thought they were just meteorites - six terrifying explosions rang the world like a bell. When the dust settled, we went on with our lives as though nothing had happened. More than a decade later, five of the eggs hatched. The dragons that emerged were small and weak. They kept to the shadows, working in secret to persuade people to do their bidding, offering magic as payment and reward. Years passed...and still we didn't notice the evil growing in our midst.

They call themselves SYLO and they are a secret branch of the U.S. Navy. SYLO's commander, Captain Granger, informs Pemberwick residents that the island has been hit by a lethal virus and must be quarantined. Tucker believes there’s more to SYLO’s story. He was on the sidelines when the high school running back dropped dead with no warning. He saw the bizarre midnight explosion over the ocean, and the mysterious singing aircraft that travel like shadows through the night sky. Logan Willis’s life is falling apart: he lost his job and found out that his wife is cheating on him all in the same day. Thinking that his world has ended, Logan checks into a hotel and turns on the TV to see that he's not far wrong - radio telescopes have detected mysterious signals coming from inside our solar system, and the source is moving toward us at over 500 miles per second. The media concludes that these signals must be of an alien origin. Still reeling from the news, Logan gets a phone call from his brother-in-law.

Amazing finish to a fast paced book
I wasn't sure how Dan Wells was going to finish this series, but I can say that it was just as fast paced as the beginning. Loved each character and towards the end I hoped it would keep going and going, yet he finished it the perfect way...a most satisfying ending.

My opinion
Overall the Partials trilogy is worth reading. Kira, the protagonist, although her intentions meant well in my opinion was a bit overbearing and annoying. Sometimes she came off a bit naive and stubborn some of her actions actually cause more harm while they could have avoided altogether. I did not like how she came off invincible at times and how is it possible that this teenager is able to solve the worlds problem while everyone else was doing the same thing but longer than she's been alive. Anyone who reads the books will definitely fall in love with Samm (especially if you are a hopeless romantic like myself.) He will be the reason you keep wanting to read all three of the books. Marcus provided great comic relief, Heron mysterious and at times cold is a likable character (she's also funny on the low), Calix is a relatable character wish she had more scenes, Ariel prove to be more than just an angry mom who lost her baby and Xochi is another good character. I do recommend to read the books and if the come out with a movie I hope they do not make Kira as annoying as she was in the book.

Great read
Let's start by saying Julia Wallen is my favorite narrator. She brought this book to life and made it easy to listen to for hours on end.
Partials brought to life modern sci-fi scenarios and really touched home with racisim and misunderstanding between two groups. The main character, Kira, allows you to relate to an intelligent, idealist who fights through all three books to bring the long war to a peaceful ending. I will definitely be listening to this book again.

Good ending to a good story
While it may feel a little rushed at the end this is a fairly decent culmination to the trilogy. I enjoyed it

grim
good ending but a little aggravating getting there. I liked the first book the best and felt I had to slog through an unnecessary amount of war and disappointing behavior to get to a satisfactory resolution. But the arrogance of humans who would play God probably not overstated. Just unpleasant.

Great start, not great finish
I loved the first book. And struggled with the second. I have found some trilogies can recover and end strong. Unfortunately I barely made it through this one. Four stars for the series. Three for the last book.
