Publisher's summary

Find out who's trying to kill one of the best-known drag queens in Memphis? No problem. Harley's on the case. Until someone decides she's getting a little too close to the truth....

Halloween's just around the corner, and business is brisk at Memphis Tour Tyme. Harley doesn't need an extra job, but when her pal Tootsie asks her to help Jordan Cleveland, his fellow drag queen, she can't resist poking around in the mystery. How dangerous could it be for her? After all, Jordan's the target of the threats, not her. He's had his brake line cut, a concrete flower pot dropped over his head, a pickup truck nearly ran him down, and someone tried to push him off a sidewalk into heavy traffic. He and Harley think his ex-wife is the most likely culprit, but after Jordan is sideswiped by a car and ends up in the hospital, trouble starts to turn Harley's way. The next thing she knows, she's dangling off the side of the city's famous Peabody Hotel while an anonymous thug tells her to mind her own business...or else.

Things can only get worse, and she ought to heed the demands of her hunky police boyfriend, Mike Morgan, who's really worried. Even the guests at a local Halloween party start to look like suspects. Maybe the guy dressed up as Jay-Z is out to get her. Or one of the Kardashian sisters.

But how dangerous can it be to leave the party just long enough to retrieve her brother's coveted Fender guitar from Tootsie's empty house? Harley will return safe and sound, right?

Fun Book!

Any additional comments?

This is a great book written by Virginia Brown and narrated by Karen Commins and Drew Commins. Harley Jean Davidson is a tour gude with Memphis Tour Tyme. When her friend Tootsie asks her to help Jordan Cleveland and fellow drag queen she can’t resist the mystery. She is determined to find out what is going on before it’s too late.

The narrators Karen Commins and Drew Commins did a great job with this book, and it was very easy to listen to. They did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to in one sitting and I didn’t want to stop listening until the end.

If you are looking for a great book with great characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrators.

A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

Harley stumbles into another mystery ...

What does Karen Commins and Drew Commins bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I loved the variety of voices both Karen and Drew were able to do. Drew especially won me over with his portrayal of Tootsie. What a character.

Any additional comments?

Return to Fender is the 4th installment of the Blue Suede Mysteries. I had not read or listened to the previous three books but I wasn't the least bit lost. Yes, there was mention of an earlier mystery but it wasn't something that made you feel like your were out of the loop so to speak.

As with her Dixie Divas series, Ms. Brown has created a group of characters that anyone would want to be friends with. I look forward to listening to more books in this series.

Trouble for Harley

Harley Jean Davidson does it again but this time she almost lost everything including her life. Harley pushes her way into an investigation that she truly should have let the police handle. I loved the storyline because it contained humor, intrigue, drama and murder. The characters are quirky and fun but also believable. This book has its good moments and bad moments. The narrating was a little off with lines being repeated and voices not being changed like they were supposed to but all in all it is a good story. I received this book from Audiobooks Unleashed and this is my honest unbiased review.

Money Laundering and Murder Memphis Style

This is a light fun southern styled cozy. The heroine is Harley a Memphis tour guide who has a penchant for stumbling onto murders and who is the black death for computers.

I mean Harley just has to look at a computer for it to crash and burn. And then she is like a fly to sugar if there is a dead body around. Oh she tries to be good and not get involved to the constraint of her family, her friends and her cop boyfriend however she is a person who trouble finds.

This was a lighthearted enjoyable cozy with humor.

I didn't like the voice of her boyfriend. I thought the voice was a bit harsh and not in flavor with the slow at ease southern style. But that's my preference. I just would preferred a different sounding voice. All the other characters have a nice melodious southern lilt.

All in all the book was fun and enjoyable.

Still not given good reasons she interferes

Ok, I realllllly tried. Am in book 4 and still care enough about the characters to want to know what happens to them. But Harley still has no reasonable reasons to keep ignoring police advice and orders. This series is a fail for me because she is so close to TSTL because of the chooses she makes. The author fails here in convincing us to forgive her and accept her interference in the investigations. I am giving up before finishing this one. I really wanted to like this. The narration has gotten less fun as the books have gone in because the male is having to narrate more males and offering fewer and fewer differences between them. I was given free copies of the 4 audio books.

Return to Fender

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I enjoy a mystery that makes me laugh and this book gave me more than one laugh.being a fan of the Stephanie Plum series so I am always looking for that next believable "bumbling" crime solver that can provide a laugh and not get redundant. After reading this I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Great book

The shenanigans Harley gets herself into doesn't surprise me. I really like the duo narrators of this team. They really bring to life the characters of the book. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Great story

This is a mystery set in Memphis with quirky characters. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and looked in to getting more in this series.
The narration was great but one voice was not to my liking. Otherwise it was perfect (and I know I’m being fickle with the one voice.)
