About this listen

The new Coven series from the best-selling creator of Drizzt Do’Urden continues with New York Times best-selling author R. A. Salvatore's Reckoning of Fallen Gods.

The winds of change are blowing upon Fireach Speur. Aoelyn risked her life to save the trader Talmadge, and it cost her everything that is dear to her, but Talmadge survived and can’t forget the amazing woman that killed a god.

Little do they realize, war is coming to the mountain. Far to the west, a fallen empire stirs. One that sees a solar eclipse as a call to war. Their empire once dominated the known world, and they want it back.

RAS still the master

I’m a big fan of Drizzt and this series is different but still good. Imaginative and brilliant with the magic. This series is more sexual and rough on the women with several rape scenes. Disturbing but it helps to develop the strength and character of the heroine here Good twists and more action in this one. Looking forward to the next one

Stunning, atmospheric, compelling

Salvatore has crafted a beautiful setting with wonderful characters. The unique gemstone magic is fascinating to learn through Aoleyn.

man, this is an amazing series

TGR does a fantastic job (as usual) narrating this wonderful series. I can't love this book and Child of a Mad God anymore than already do

Love this narrator

The author’s beautiful prose was performed amazingly by the narrator. A creative tale of magic and beliefs. This is a great coming-into-power and knowing-one’s-self tale. The strong female lead grows even more endearing.

Another exciting chapter in the saga

Aoelyn almost loses her life when she returned to her tribe and is confronted by the hateful Mairen and eventually being thrown to her death for acts of heresy and barely survives when aided by the spirits of her dead loved ones. While recovering, Aoelyn continues her search to understand the magic of the variety of stones and becomes even more powerful. Meanwhile, the xoconai were becoming ascendant with the rise of their long lost god, Skath-mi-Zahn and were preparing to lay waste to all humans come spring. What follows is a riveting sequence of events that keep ones adrenaline high with intrigue, betrayal and, of course, brutality.

On a less positive note, R. A. Salvatore created a world with so many tribes and species, all with hard to remember names that as he transitions from one scene to another, one is left listening for several seconds before picking up on which tribe/species is being discussed, at times requiring one to backspace to reacquaint themselves with the scene. This annoyance is mostly mitigated by Tim Gerard Reynolds' excellent narration talents making it less bothersome to re-listen.
