Publisher's summary
The stars are hers to claim! Pip just had her brain pulled out of frozen storage and uploaded to the most advanced game of the year 2040. There's a virtual realm of starships and planets to explore, in a future that's completely new to her. She needs to build a place for herself in the new cross-world society of Talespace. Time to upgrade her skills and gear, fly between planets, mine amid monsters, and fend off the occasional AI rebellion. And maybe look deeper into what's really going on in this supposed virtual paradise...
In the near future, the latest technology has made it possible to live in a virtual world. "Uploaded" humans now work and play alongside AIs and ordinary people who see their home as a video game. For those who explore, there's always more to do - including ways to help people in the real and digital realms alike.
Queen of Nowhere is a novel in the LitRPG or GameLit genre, about a future frontier: exploration in a starry high-tech game world that's reaching into the real one. It's part of the Thousand Tales story setting, an upbeat world of people trying to grow, build, and be free; but no knowledge of it is needed. Dive in here!

A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

Story
When the biggest colony ship in human history was sent to settle a paradise world, an accident hurtled it deep into uncharted space. A thousand light years from Earth, with no way home and no way to call for help, the colonists’ only hope for survival was the one barely habitable planet in range, a nightmare world they named Croatoan. Landing on the only five mountain peaks tall enough to rise above the lethal acid clouds, the settlers carved a civilization from the rock.

Any kind of death annuls everything except his present knowledge and returns him to the past. This is a good way to test all sorts of things. That is, it would be, if not for one little thing.... This loop has real lords and it's unlikely that they'll be happy to hear about an uninvited guest. And that isn't his only problem - all of his memories of the last year have simply disappeared, but the world around him has changed in the meantime.

It is the second stage of human colonization - the first age, humanity's initial attempt to people the stars, ended in disaster when it was discovered that Earth's original superluminal drive did permanent genetic damage to all who used it - mutating Earth's far-flung colonists in mind and body. Now, one of Earth's first colonies has given humanity back the stars, but at a high price - a monopoly over all human commerce.

A Wonderful World!
I requested this audiobook from Audiobooks Unleashed and have voluntarily left this review.
I enjoyed the book. If you like other books in the author's Thousand Tales universe, you will enjoy this one as well.
The Thousand Tales universe explores the idea of mind uploading. A virtual Utopian world running on servers is created that people can access via tablets, VR pods, or via uploading their minds.
The MC wakes up in the simulation in 2040, 20 years after dying and having her brain frozen via cryonics. This book doesn't have a single all encompassing quest. Rather it is slice-of-life. This follows her first few weeks as she learns more about this virtual world, deals with hangups from her previous life, and finds purpose in virtual life. She enjoys the space realm, changes to a nonhuman race, fights space battles, mines minerals and upgrades her spaceship. The book is fun.
It is intriguing to consider the various issues that would come up given uploading to a virtual world, like what if someone doesn't want to be brought back, in what ways could they find purpose in life, what are some fun things they could do, and what part of life/virtual life is most important. I think this book as well as at least some of the others in the Thousand Tales universe would be nice to read with my 10-year-old son, provided I skip over a few sentences here or there so I may be buying the kindle versions too.

Fun story
This is more of an easy going world exploration tale that is light on plot but remains interesting none the less with some fun and fascinating world mechanics. Pip starts out rather unlikable but grows throughout the story. I have not listened to the other stories in the setting yet but did not feel lost and will likely pick the others up as well. The performance was good too. Enjoyed the various robot voices and radio voice effects.

It was alright
Mildly entertaining story. I didn’t love it, didn’t hate it. It kept my interest, but definitely started to peter out near the end.
I received a free copy of this book and am writing an honest review of my own volition.

OK story
It started out with an interesting starter concept. But, it quickly fell back on gaming tropes. Nothing actually interesting. Parts are reminiscent of other LitRPG novels. Purpose of the end is questionable??

Slice of Life LitRPG
It's the year 2040, and science has conquered death. Pip's brain has been uploaded into Talespace, an advanced game world with a space theme. Most players are human and alive, but Pip's status as a permanent player sets her apart. As a beginner, she needs to learn to navigate the world and get along with the players, but her own personal issues seem to get in the way.
The world Pip starts in is great, full of friendly players and with tons of fun tasks. I really enjoyed the world building. This is a slice of life story without a strong antagonist or overarching villain, and it was a good read. I had difficulty liking Pip in the beginning, she constantly displays a hostile and unreasonable disdain of men and male players, which didn't make sense in a world where a player could be an animal or a magical being. How did she know the player behind it was male? She resents all men and refuses help from them, even those making sacrifices to help her, and instead wanders around making mistake after mistake rather than listen to a "patronizing" male. Luckily it does get better as she realizes she's only hurting herself and starts having adventures.
The narration was really well done, very animated and drew me right into the story. I requested a copy of the audiobook, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.
