About this listen

On your mark...

Private, the world's most renowned investigation firm, has been commissioned to provide security for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Its agents are the smartest, fastest, and most technologically advanced in the world, and 400 of them have been transferred to London to protect more than 10,000 competitors, who represent more than 200 countries.

Get set...

The opening ceremony is hours away when Private investigator and single father of twins, Peter Knight, is called to the scene of a ruthless murder: a high-ranking member of the games' organizing committee has been killed. It's clear to Peter that this wasn't a crime of passion, but one of precise calculation and execution.

Die!

Newspaper reporter Karen Pope receives a letter from a person who calls himself Cronus, claiming responsibility. He promises to restore the Olympics to their ancient glory and to destroy all those who have corrupted the games with lies, corruption, and greed. Immediately, Karen hires Private to examine the letter, and she and Peter uncover a criminal genius who won't stop until he's completely destroyed the modern games.

"America's #1 storyteller" (Forbes) delivers an exhilarating, action-packed thriller that brings the splendor and emotion of the Olympics to a wildly powerful climax.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I love the private series. The whole British accent ruined the characters I had envisioned in my mind. The story was weak and lack luster. Usuallly Patterson has you in suspense. I was just plain bored. I have read every Patterson book--this was the first to disappoint. I didn't like hearing the owner of Private--Jack speak in a British accent.

Would you be willing to try another book from James Patterson and Mark Sullivan ? Why or why not?

Absolutely! I love all the characters and stories Patterson writes. As for Sullivan, if he wrote the prior 2 privates then yes. If not, then probably not

How could the performance have been better?

The reader lacked the suspense that past readers of Patterson books has had. It was very boring. It was one dimensional. The narrator never changed his voice for different characters or his inflection. I never really felt like it was a suspense, mystery or thriller.

Was Private Games worth the listening time?

I didn't turn it off so I guess so.

lack luster-not one of the best

Well written and full of excitement. A fast paced race to the Olympic sized finish.

Entertaining

This book takes a different turn, this story takes place in London around the 2012 Olympic Games, and Jack is not the main character Peter one of Private’s other employees is the main character. There are various parts of the story that are being narrated by the killer which is neat, it gives you a different view of the story and the crimes that are being committed. A criminal who calls himself Cronus is threatening to restore the Olympic Games to their original meaning and to murder all those who have corrupted the Games with lies, cheating, and greed.

Great Story

This was a little of a twist on the Private series, but a good story, that had me sitting on the edge of my seat. I am only sorry that we won't continue to hear about Inspector Knight, a character I grew to love.

A real Page turner

great story

The beginning was a little weird and hard to dig into, but I'm really glad that I did. I wanted Jack Morgan to be more involved, but quickly fell in love with the detective featured. The villain was a mystery until very near the end. I'm ready for the next Private adventure.

Another Suspense I Couldn't Put Down

Would you listen to Private Games again? Why?

I not only would I did re-play it several times. I truly enjoyed it.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I was very involved from the beginning

What does Paul Panting bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I saw that there was criticism of a British accent. What would you expect for a London story. If you are at all familiar with reviewing British movies or TV then the accent would not be a problem

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was excited and it kept me involved.

Any additional comments?

This was different Patterson and I am not sure having co-writers causes you to read or not read but I am finding that the stories that include other writers are different but so far I am enjoying them

Different but really great
