About this listen

The perfect life....

A successful lawyer and loving mother, Nina Bloom would do anything to protect the life she's built in New York - including lying to everyone, even her daughter, about her past. But when an innocent man is framed for murder, she knows that she can't let him pay for the real killer's crimes.

The perfect lie....

Nina's secret life began 18 years ago. She had looks to die for, a handsome police-officer husband, and a carefree life in Key West. When she learned she was pregnant with their first child, her happiness was almost overwhelming. But Nina's world is shattered when she unearths a terrible secret that causes her to run for her life and change her identity.

The perfect way to die....

Now, years later, Nina risks everything she's earned to return to Florida and confront the murderous evil she fled. In a story of wrenching suspense, James Patterson gives us his most head-spinning, action-filled story yet - a Hitchcock-like blend of unquenchable drama and pleasure.

Patterson should quit collaborating and write

Patterson can write a good book. He used to.

But now he keeps co-authoring or whatever he's doing and is losing a lot in quality of reputation. His name on the cover used to mean something, but not much anymore. This book was so contrived as to be laughable. No one person can have that many runs of bad luck or that many magical saves.

And no one author can write that many books. I think he's contributing his name and not much else.

I didn't care for the narration, but HATED the sound effects. If I want music, I turn on music. If I want a book, I want a book, not music.

Good Read

This was a good book, very suspensful.
Lots of twist and turns, and the music and narrator were great.

I didn't love this book. Reminded me of a Lifetime movie. I am glad it wasn't too long...

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Ok...

This book is just ok....I felt it was fairly easy to predict the outcome and I felt a little confused as to why the villian in this piece is actually after our herion. I also felt that the love story in this book should have been a little bit more evolved. I know this is a suspense, but a little more detail would have enhanced this book. I was hoping for a little more...
