About this listen

Kierkegaard was a fierce critic of the Hegelianism of his time and of what he viewed as the empty formalities of the Danish church. He denied Hegel’s insistence on logic within the realm of religion by stating that many doctrines of Christianity cannot be explained with rational thought. Kierkegaard insisted that there is truth in faith that facts are inadequate to elucidate.

I love Kierkegaard's philosophy

The audio is poorly edited. The reader makes many mistakes and speaks too fast. You can occasionally hear ambulances i. the background. Best listened to at less than 100% speed.

Poor Production Values

The performer who read the text of this audiobook sounded as though he was "racing against the clock". His speech was clear, but he definitely seemed to be in a big hurry! Unfortunately, there was also an apparent issue with the text he was reading from; repeated sentences, and probably an element of poor punctuation. These things made this a rather unpleasant audiobook experience.

Overall however, I feel the content of this short treatise by Soren Kierkegaard was excellent.

Windows text-to-speech has more inflection

The windows autoreader does a better job. I have no idea what this narrator was attempting.
