About this listen

Mitzi leads a quiet life as a professional matchmaker. Her cozy life is turned upside down when she is chosen as the matchmaker for an alien species searching for wives. Naturally, she refuses. Unfortunately, she’s having a hard time saying no to the dashingly handsome but domineering alien warrior. Although, he makes her heart flutter, it’s a good thing he’s not her type.

Jax, captain of the Talzor starship, is ordered to hire a shalhinari, a spiritual matchmaker, to find soul mates for six of his men. He locates the best shalhinari on Earth; yet, Mitzi Selig, the earthbound woman, tries his patience. To his distress, he is drawn to her beauty, questioning his judgment. Worse, his long suppressed empathy gene awakens, a trait not seemly for a warrior.

The magnetic pull between Captain Jax and Mitzi is astronomical. Yet, can a tormented warrior and a woman who refuses to leave Earth find love? A long light-year distance relationship is one thing, but looming danger could curtail any chance for their star-crossed passion.

Funny and highly entertaining throughout!

I was very pleasantly surprised about how much I loved this sci-fi romance audiobook, from the very first minute all the way to the end. It was a breath of fresh air in the sci-fi romance subgenre. The story setup is wonderfully outrageous, and I could not stop listening to it. The detailed technology, culture, and backstory of the hero swept me away. I also loved that there was always something happening, either in the relationship or plot development. The humor was fantastic! I laughed a lot, and I probably smiled for much of the book. Mitzi, as portrayed by the talented narrator Elizabeth Walker, has tongue-in-cheek humor and hilarious thoughts. The narrator did an expert job with the different voices, the humor, pacing, and emotion. My only tiny criticism is that I often could not tell if Mitzi was saying things out loud or in her head.

The third-person perspective alternated between the heroine and hero, but more often the heroine. There was some great steaminess in small doses. I really like the slow burn relationship buildup without the sex overwhelming the plot. The author did a wonderful job with the love scenes.

I loved the main characters and at least three of the supporting characters, especially the hero's artificially intelligent assistant. The heroine Mitzi was strong-minded, engaging, relatable, and comfortable in her own skin. She is awesome. The hero was very likable, admirable, and had a totally hot voice. The narrator gave him a high-class British accent, and it was delicious. I highly recommend this to all sci-fi romance fans and to anyone who wants a funny romance.

I received a free audiobook copy from the author, and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Easy listen

Overall this was a good listen. The story moves at a fairly quick pace. The idea is cute, an alien race that needs brides and comes to Earth to find them. However, I was expecting a hot and steamy romance. That is not what this story was. The main love story is sweet, not sexy. There is intrigue and conflict though and I did enjoy the story. Overall, I would be willing to listen to any additional stories in the series as they come.

couldn't finish it

Disclaimer- I recieved a promo code to read this book
I really tried to finish this book, but just couldn't. I got through half, and couldn't go on. I don't think the script was properly edited for audio. Sometimes it felt like I was listening to a one sided phone call, with random breaks and a conversation that didn't make complete sense. The story line is there. But it's really hard to tell the "inner thought" voice of the characters vs that actual "spoken outloud" dialogue. I may try to read the print version to find out the ending.

Fantastic and Fun

This was an overall great romantic feel good audiobook. It had lots of fun, sweet and soft moments. In addition, it also carried action, suspense and thrills! Besides getting frustrated with the "do I or don't I" seen in all romance books, where you just want to shake the heroine, I was in tune to every moment. The narrator did an awesome job making it feel as if the book was being played out before you. I hope there is more to come because I think this could be a fantastic series. Either way, I will be looking for more Eva Gordon to indulge in.

An entertaining alien romance

Planet Talzor Needs Brides is the first alien romance book that I've read and also the first book that I've read by this author. Compared to some of the other alien romance books on the market, the alien aspect of this book is pretty mild. Jax is from the planet Talzor, but his physical appearance closely resembles that of Earth humans. The author does a great job of creating a unique storyline and world for this book. The majority of the book takes place either on earth or on Jax's space ship. The reader does learn about Jax's heritage and some of the worlds that he's lived on, but I would have liked to have "seen" more about those worlds. I'm not sure if this is the first book of a series; if it is, then I hope to get that opportunity with the next book(s) in the series. The romance between Mitzi and Jax is a slow burn romance. Both of them try to fight their feelings for the other because they both think that Mitzi won't decide to leave Earth. The book does have a HEA and includes an epilogue that nicely wraps up Mitzi and Jax's story. Overall, I really enjoyed the audiobook. This book was an interesting and entertaining read. The narrator does a really good job of performing the story, but I would have liked there to be a little more variation between her different character performances (at times it was a little difficult to distinguish who was "speaking" in the book).

A Romantic fun read! 🤓👍🏻

I just enjoyed listening to this book! The performance was really good and the writing was excellent. The story moves along at a good pace and gives a fresh approach to the alien bride genre. A fun and easy listen. I’d recommend this book to anyone. The Cover Art is artfully done .The star rating I gave was given after thinking about each and every category. So, grab a favorite beverage and enjoy this book/listen!

Entertaining!

Planet Talzor Needs Brides is the first book in the Shalhiari Space Chronicles, and quite enjoyable. It's well-plotted and fast-paced; I was thoroughly entertained and immersed. The storyline is packed with twists, turns, romance, drama, and adventure.

The characters are intriguing, and engaging in particular, Mitzi and Jax. They have a marvellous connection with fiery chemistry. Eva Gordon is a fantastic fantasy romance author, she has an incredible imagination, captivating the readers/listeners with her stories. The narration by Elizabeth Walker is excellent, she does an amazing job bringing the characters to life.

Overall this was a great listen, and I recommend it to those who enjoy listing to sci-fi or fantasy romance. I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

She's whisked away to a hidden military base and discovers that a planet named Talzor has requested her services as a shalhinari, a spiritual matchmaker, Shes confused about it all and tries to decline only to be threatened with death if she doesn't accept. Meanwhile, Jax, captain of the Talzor starship, is on a mission to find brides for his crew. Now it's left to Mitzi to live up to her skills and at the same time try not to fall for the handsome Jax. Fantastic story and fantastic narrator. Miss Walker brings each of the characters to life and we are drawn in by her voice and skills!!
