Clean Romance

Ornamental Graces by Carolyn Astflk is a clean christian romance. The story was well written and has depth. I liked how the author wove into it faith and beliefs. She did great adding some suspense and drama to the story. The narration by Kieren Calland Metts was good. Both author and narrator were new to me. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review.

An annual Christmas favorite

Carolyn Astfalk takes time with her romantic couples, letting their relationships grow in a more natural and realistic manner than most authors in her genre. Her Catholicism is apparent but not pushy --her character development is faith-based. You don't have to be Catholic to enjoy this sweet Christmas romance, but it does help with the nuances. Narrator is clear and even in her delivery.

A nice Christmas romance

"I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review." With a title like 'Ornamental Graces', this book was not what I had expected. It was better. It's a sweet love story that has a few unexpected curves; a clinging ex-girlfriend and her upset brother are a couple. If you like love stories I know you will like this one. Carolyn Astfalk has written a good book and Kieren Calland Metts did a fantastic job as narrator.

Oh,Christmas Tree!!!

Ornamental Graces
: Carolyn Astfalk

This is a relatively clean contemporary romance. The author drags the characters through every bit of drama she can think of, before reaching resolution. It's very slow moving. The French touches were OK, but didn't do much for me. Plenty of religious references.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed by Kieren Calland Metts.

Story of love, grace and God's redemptive power

Ornamental Grace by Carolyn Astfalk

This book deals with the after effects of a failed pre-marital relationship. It is written with a strong Christian/Catholic perspective.

Dan is working through a horrible break-up after a very bad relationship. Throughout the relationship, the woman has used Dan financially and left him in extreme debt. He is working through the debt, had to re-start his business, and winds up opening a Christmas Tree lot as a jumpstart. During this time, he meets Emily as she comes to buy a tree with her brother.

It is actually through meeting her brother at a later time that he and Emily become friends. The romance has many starts and stops, mostly due to problems with Dan’s ex.

The characters are great and the book makes the families real. It makes you want to join in for family dinners, kiddie cuddles, and you just have to love Grandma.

All in all, this is an amazing story of forgiveness, redemption, love, and grace at it’s best.

The only negative comment that I have about the book is that in a couple of times of extreme emotional conflict, some slightly harsh language was used. It was true-to-life in content, but personally I dislike strong language in Christian books.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I took the opportunity to provide an honest review, although it was not required.
