Publisher's summary

Luca Lewis is done with church. It killed his father, and now he wants nothing to do with the whole thing. Yet, he can’t seem to shake the unwanted conviction his father planted deep in his soul: that maybe something else is possible–something much more important.

Dr. Jimmy Norris is struggling to lead LifePointe, a waning, suburban Atlanta megachurch. He sees the church desperately needs to change, but clambering after new gimmicks just doesn’t cut it anymore, and the crushing shadow of his politically powerful father is ever-present. Without courageous leadership, LifePointe is finished. And so is Jimmy’s future.

And Yushua Maalouf, a Yemeni refugee betrayed by his family for his newfound faith finds himself bewildered as he encounters the priorities of the North American church. On Yemeni soil, he experienced a selfless and unstoppable faith community. But can he see what his heart deeply craves in his newly adopted homeland? When these three lives unexpectedly cross, Luca and Jimmy are given a rare moment to see Jesus’ church in a whole new way. But will they see past the scars and status of a refugee to the divine opportunity that stands squarely in front of them?

Missiologist and author Jeff Christopherson weaves seven common temptations drawing the Western church away from its disciple-making, calling into a compelling story of three very different men. Each with something essential to see. And each given a call to a different way.

Amazing storylines

In this novel the author weaves together the lives of people from different countries and different places in the United States as they seek truth, seeking God through lenses that weren't the true ones. It is a good book of fiction on its own but also has so much truth about temptations that rise in the church in America. The narrator is exceptional in delivering the character's voices so excellently.

Phenomenal and inspiring

The content of this book is very challenging to the western church concepts of building bigger church buildings centered around 1 person or the few gifted and for coming to church to be educated but refuse to mobilize and actively search for the lost sheep. The way this is written, historical fiction, weaves together several characters and very real scenarios we can see in our towns and cities. Very challenging and VERY WELL narrated—Very well!!!!
