Publisher's summary

Do you love a good whodunit? Detectives and mobsters, newshawks and murderers–all ingredients for disaster in this murder mystery collection. Whether it was sending a detective after zombie killers on the prowl or chasing down grisly headhunters at a carnival, Ron knew how to thrill readers and keep them guessing until the end.

This 5-audiobook collection includes 6 short stories for 10 hours of immersive entertainment. All audiobooks are unabridged, full-cast productions with cinematic quality sound effects that bring the stories and characters to vivid life.

Titles and short stories in the Mystery & Suspense Collection Vol 1 include: Spy Killer, The Chee-Chalker, Brass Keys to Murder, Cargo of Coffins, and Dead Men Kill (with: “Grounded”).

You will love this collection because, as Ellery Queen describes the stories, they have “Colorful prose, lively action writing, exotic locales, fresh variations on standard characters and situations, and well-constructed plots.” And George Clayton Johnson (author of Logan’s Run) calls it, “On a par with Jack London, Edgar Rice Burroughs, and Dashiell Hammett.”

Book Descriptions:

Spy Killer: Falsely accused of murder and grand larceny, Kurt Reid flees to Shanghai. After rescuing a White Russian spy, he’s captured by the Chinese and forced into the cloak-and-dagger world of espionage and intrigue, where everything and everyone is not what they appear to be. Performed by: R.F. Daley (narrator), Shane Johnson, Jim Meskimen, and Tait Ruppert.

The Chee-Chalker: In Ketchikan, Alaska, FBI Agent Bill Norton discovers an heiress to a bankrupt fishing fleet and a string of corpses dismissed as “accidental drownings” … all leading him to a murderous heroin smuggling ring. Performed by: R.F. Daley (narrator), Tamra Meskimen, Tait Ruppert, Jim Meskimen, and Bob Caso.

Brass Keys to Murder: Navy Lieutenant Steve Craig is accused of murdering his own father. Determined to find out who took his father’s life—even if it means risking his own—Steve follows a trail of sudden violence and astonishing secrets that will change his life forever. Performed by: R.F. Daley (narrator), Bob Caso, Beth Leckbee, Jim Meskimen, and Jimmy Weldon.

Cargo of Coffins: Lars Marlin signs on as captain of an oceangoing yacht where his arch-nemesis, Paco Corvino (a man who considers murder a pastime) is aboard. Lars discovers Paco working as the chief steward, but suspects he is up to no good—and their voyage will likely prove to be a final bloody showdown. Performed by: R.F. Daley (narrator), Tait Ruppert, Keli Daniels, and Jim Meskimen.

Dead Men Kill: Detective-Sergeant Terry Lane investigates dual murders and discovers that the killers are already dead! Clue by clue, Lane unveils a plot involving Haitian voodoo and stumbles down a twisted trail towards the evil Dr. Leroux—and a possible fate worse than death. Performed by: R.F. Daley (narrator), Jennifer Aspen, Matt Scott, John Mariano, and Jim Meskimen.

Exciting stories that carry me along

I love the collection. Each story is exciting. I like the characters and how the heroes are not Snow White while being on the right side of Justice. The heroines are dangerous and intriguing. Overall it’s just nice, clean entertainment.
