About this listen

The first in a brand new cozy series from Diane Kelly set in Nashville - where the real estate market is to die for.

WILL THIS KILLER DEAL LEAD TO A DEAD END?

Meet Whitney Whitaker. A hopeless romantic when it comes to real estate, she knows what it takes to find - and flip - the home of one’s dreams. A fixer-upper is like catnip to Whitney: she can’t resist the challenge of turning an eyesore into a priceless work of art. So when one of her clients decides to liquidate a crumbling property, Whitney seizes the opportunity to purchase it for a song. But soon a curious incident of the cat in the night-time leads to a change in tune....

Sawdust is the name of Whitney’s cat - of course. Whitney’s passion for gut-renovation may be a mystery to him, but one thing Sawdust knows for sure is this: Dead bodies don’t belong in flower beds. So why is there one in this new, albeit old, house? Now it’s up to Whitney, along with the help of hot-and-cold Nashville Police Detective Collin Flynn, to find the truth about what happened before the mortgage property forecloses and Whitney loses her investment...and maybe her own life.

Great!!!

And no colorful language! My Mom would even enjoy listening to this story and she hates mysteries.

good story

Pretty good. The main character is interesting and not dumb. (...which is a big plus.). The story moves along well.

Narrator reads well and is easy to understand, but kind of overdoes the accent a bit. But no problem telling who's speaking or anything like that.

Overall it was worth the credit and I'm ready to start the next one.

A new favorite series

The perfect balance of mystery and humor. Whitney and Sawdust POVs are so enjoyable. Both author and performer create characters and events you can easily envision.

Southern Determination

This is a fun mystery, with a talented and spunky heroine. The reader’s voice-fried southern was a little irritating and not real. That’s my opinion. I relaxed and enjoyed the story, characters, and the mystery.

Great first book in new series big thumbs up!

I am a very big fan of her paw enforcement series! I haven’t been a cat person very much, but I am dedicated to buying the series as well! Sawdust was awesome! His personality was way different from Bridget in her paw enforcement series! I loved Whitney and all the main characters! I’ve warmed up to them immediately! I can’t recommend this new book highly enough! I will have to give it more than five stars because it really exceeded my expectations.

Sawdust and three roommates!

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL STORY! A GOOD MYSTERY THAT KEPT US GUESSING. All adults and most had good morals and NO profanity at all!!! What a breath of fresh air!! Thank you!!!
Great story kept me guessing almost the whole boook. I read out loud to pre and young adults. So hard to find " Clean " stories now. I so want people to clean up their fillthy speach. We don't speak like they do on tv and movies so were limited. THANK YOU FOR GIVING US A FAMILY STORE!! WE are all in Love with Sawdust😙

Good story

Just wondering why Whitney was planting and watering pansies in the winter in Nashville TN?? I lived there and it’s cold. To cold for flowers to be watered.

Really Enjoyable

This story was recommended to me and I am glad that I listened to the advise. The story was interesting and kept my attention all the way through. Loved Sawdust the cat, so cute. I really loved the narrator, Sophie Amoss, she really brought the characters to life for me. I hope to hear more by this narrator. Looking forward to more by Diane Kelly.
