Publisher's summary

A letter arrives for Camille at her sumptuous hotel in Manhattan. She is surprised anyone knows of her presence in New York, so opens it with wonder. The envelope is closed with a seal she recognizes; a family of some note within New York society. She frowns, speculating on its contents.

The letter is a request to attend a gala at New York's famous Metropolitan Museum of Art on Fifth Avenue, Manhattan. Her help has been entreated to solve a matter of national importance, with the letter's writer asking Camille for her utmost discretion. Of course, being a Lady of the Realm, she is always discreet, and when she shares the news of the gala and the investigation with Cecily, her lady's maid, Cecily squeals with delight. There is nothing more exciting than helping Lady Camille with one of her investigations.

At the gala, Camille is intrigued to be introduced to one of New York's famous sons, but he lets slip a nugget of information regarding a secret syndicate, known as The Consortium of the Alpha. Camille realises this is why she has been summoned to the gala, and why she, Cecily, Elsie, and Chief Inspector Owen, must infiltrate the upper echelons of New York society. Something is bubbling, and it's not just the champagne. Will Camille's knowledge of high-society assist her in her investigation, or will this be the inquiry that will put her in so much danger, she wonders if she will survive it?

Superb story & narration

Ms. Hicks has another winner with Murder in Manhattan. I found myself enthralled by the storyline. Her use of bits of reality had me remembering my holiday in Manhattan a few years ago and wondering if I walked the same sidewalks. I must to say Ink Arnadine is a fabulous narrator. Her command of the various voices she uses is astounding. Her narration enhances my listening pleasure.

another great cozy mystery!

Interesting to see the cast of characters I'm such a different setting, and Andrea Hicks could not have found a better Narrator than Ink Arnadine
