Publisher's summary

A joke? A prank? Or something more sinister?

When the Exham-on-Sea residents are targeted by anonymous emails containing apparently harmless nursery rhymes, no one knows whether to laugh or shudder until an unexplained death touches the town.

Libby Forest, baker, chocolatier and Exham’s very own resident private investigator, alongside her partner Max Ramshore, set out to solve the puzzle before more people die. But when Max’s ex-wife arrives on the scene, ahead of Max and Libby's long-awaited nuptials, things go from bad to worse.

With the town and their relationship under threat, Max and Libby need the help of the Exham History Society if they're going to find the nursery rhyme killer in time.

Murder at the Gorge is the seventh in a series of Exham-on-Sea Murder Mysteries set at the small English seaside town full of quirky characters, sea air and gossip.

If you love Agatha Christie-style mysteries, cosy crime, clever dogs and cake, then you'll love these intriguing whodunnits.

Interesting turns

I wasn’t sure I would like this book because I hadn’t listened to the previous books, but most back stories came out and these characters grabbed me. A lot of twists and turns in the plot and an excellent narrator kept me hanging until the end. I need to get the earlier books and catch up.

Light, Interesting Murder Mystery

This is not my typical style of mystery, but it kept me interested with nicely developed characters and pleasant narration. I'd read another of Evesham's mysteries and find her style to offer a nice break from some of the heavier subject matter contained in my regular repertoire of often brooding and intense psychological thrillers. That said, I genuinely enjoy her writing style and would recommend this as a nice, light, satisfying read. Recommend.

Fun and entertaining

Love the English setting, the dogs and the mystery. The narrator definitely makes the story so much better.

Very nice story

I started listening to the Libby Forest Mysteries at the beginning, and I am impressed with the new(ish) narrator. The narrator of the first ew made Libby sound, to my ear, as if she were always complaining and wingeing and demanding. This narrator delineates characters more and Libby sounds like the strong, empowered woman that she has become through the loss of her first husband and making a life on her own as she wishes.

The mysteries themselves are convoluted and endearing in all the right ways, you end up the book seeing Libby’s (and Max’s) minds open further to understand varying segments of society in deeper and with more appreciation. I love the modeling of a good female and male relationship that is depicted as well. Thank you, Frances and Charlotte. Well written and well acted.

Interesting twists and turns

Many characters, with twists and turns, with an unpredictable ending. Characters aren’t explored in depth. The reader is great!

Delightful..

..if you can call a murder mystery that. I had only listened to first Exeham murder book previous to this one, but was able to follow just fine. Nicely woven plot and great performance by the narrator.
