About this listen

Mortal Heart is the powerful conclusion to Robin LaFevers's New York Times bestselling His Fair Assassin trilogy—perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas, Kristin Cashore, and Victoria Aveyard.

"LaFevers again mesmerizes her readers through the political struggles of 15th century Brittany and the intrigues of the followers of Mortain."—School Library Journal, starred review

In fifteenth-century Brittany, the sisters of the convent of St. Mortain are trained assassins, now mobilizing to protect the French duchess from the rumblings of war. Newest among their ranks is Annith, but she’s escaped the convent to seek her own destiny with the god of Death. When Annith meets a mysterious knight at court, she can’t tell if he is friend or foe, and she must make a desperate choice....

Don't miss this final chapter to the critically acclaimed His Fair Assassin series that takes reader’s deep into the wicked world of corrupt politics, dangerous love, and hard-won vengeance.

Overall it was amazing

The story is incredible, so many similarities to the second book with Sybella. Instead of it being personal in an extremely familial and physical manner, it was very personal in a very religious and spiritual way. Which is really awesome to get to know more about the god’s they worship in the books and how their relationship is with humanity. A few others said that you could skip half of it and not miss anything, I vehemently disagree! If you did that you would miss so much context about her story and trials that put her where she is in the second half!

The only thing that could have been better was the narrator’s character voices. For some it is incredibly helpful with the changing voices to help keep track of which character is speaking. However, there were a few times more in the second half where she did seem to, ever so slightly, struggle with some of the character voices. Still overall an excellent performance and will most definitely listen and enjoy again!

fantastic just some minor voice annoyances.

the voice actress did her best but I feel that she really struggled with male voices and even some of the female voices felt off and disjointed.

Buy the other one version!!!

This is one of my absolute favorite books! But I HATE the way it is performed. She completely ruins Mortain’s voice and turns him into a whiny child. I didn’t realize there was a different audio version until I had already bought this one. BUY THE OTHER ONE!!!!
