Publisher's summary

One of the best books ever written about Lincoln by Dale Carnegie. Chronicles the inner life and struggles of Abraham Lincoln, how he led a life of poverty, how he went from pauper to become president, how he emerged from obscurity and became the Republican nominee at the 1860 Chicago convention, how he loved to tell humorous stories, and that he was an avid reader of Shakespeare.

You will love this book whether you are already well-versed in Lincoln history and sayings or simply know his as the president who emancipated Blacks from slavery.

Misidentified president.

I liked the story and the narrator. President Andrew Johnson was misidentified as Andrew Jackson at least 3 times. Didn’t anyone proofread or listen to this before releasing it? A couple of times a sentence was repeated twice. All in all it was very enjoyable to listen to. I learned many things about Mary Lincoln that I had not known.

Abe Lincoln I wish you were here

Great book. Many truths not taught in school are in this book. Robert E Lee was against slavery and never owned a slave and Ulysses S Grant was a rags-to-riches story whose wife owned slaves. We get brainwashed in America by the left narratives, slavery was a worldwide issue but Abe Lincoln and the Republicans led us out of it.

Amazing stories and back stories about the life of Lincoln and those around him. It shows Abraham Lincoln as a man not just a perfect historical figure. I have recommended it to all of my family and friends:)

I highly recommend this book

I highly recommend this book and recording. The book is from 1934. It spends a lot of space describing the faults of Mrs. Lincoln. Yet, it is a good book. The reader is one of my favorites.

Lincoln & the company he kept

This book is a fascinating tale of Lincoln's and the various characters who influenced him. It is a more complicated view of his character, and I found it instructive.

Lincoln Up close

Good book on the challenges Lincoln overcame and how he seemed destined for greatness. Close up stories of Ms Lincoln, Booth and the Civil War characters.

Lincoln

Both the book and the narration were absolutely superlative. I felt as though a time travelled and got lost completely in the story and narrative.

Pretty Good

I probably learned more about in this book about Mary Lincoln than I did Abe. I did learn a few new things about Abe from the earlier part of his life, but much of it from the Civil War period was the same as what I had learned from other books. Still enjoyable. There were also quite a bit of interesting things about John Wilkes Booth towards the end. I read this book because I revere Dale Carnegie from some of his other works. Overall, this isn't the best Abe Lincoln book out there, but it is still worth reading.
