About this listen
Each of the best-selling writers represented in Legends II return to the special universe of the imagination that its author has made famous throughout the world. Whether set before or after events already recounted elsewhere, whether featuring beloved characters or compelling new creations, these masterful short novels are both mesmerizing stand-alones (perfect introductions to the work of their authors) and indispensable additions to the epics on which they are based.
George R.R. Martin continues the adventures of Dunk, a young hedge knight, and his unusual squire, Egg, in "The Sworn Sword", set a generation before the events in A Song of Ice and Fire.
Anne McCaffrey shines a light into the most mysterious and wondrous of all places on Pern in the heartwarming "Beyond Between".

A young, naïve but ultimately courageous hedge knight, Ser Duncan the Tall towers above his rivals—in stature if not experience. Tagging along is his diminutive squire, a boy called Egg—whose true name is hidden from all he and Dunk encounter. Though more improbable heroes may not be found in all of Westeros, great destinies lay ahead for these two . . . as do powerful foes, royal intrigue, and outrageous exploits. Featuring more than 160 all-new illustrations by Gary Gianni, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a must-have collection that proves chivalry isn’t dead—yet.

Seyonne has made peace with his fate. With strict self-discipline he forces himself to exist only in the present moment and to avoid the pain of hope or caring about anyone.

Beautiful Queen Inos married the loyal stableboy Rap and made him her king. They were very much in love, and they lived happily ever after. Fifteen years went by. Rap and Inos were comfortable, secure, and truly happy, raising their family in the little backwater kingdom of Krasnegar, well removed from the hurly-burly of great affairs.... Story
Some of the parchment pages were the color of cream, thick and substantial, made to last many, many lifetimes. Other pages were thin and desiccated, positively yellow from age, and crackled alarmingly as Van Richten turned them over. There were no ornate illuminations, no fussy borders, only lines of plain text in hard black ink. The flowing handwriting was a bit difficult to follow at first; the writer's style of calligraphy had not been in common use for 300 years. No table of contents, but from the dates it looked to be some kind of history.

Martin Is Flawless and McCaffrey Gets It Done
Martin's continuing story of Dunk and Egg is very well done. I wish that I had more and this one has pushed me into trying some other works by Martin. I can't wait for the next volume of Song of Fire and Ice. The performance from Malcolm is a huge step up from the first Legends and the story is fantastic.
I enjoyed McCaffrey's story but it is just not my type of story. It is well done but I could have lived without it.

George R.R. Martin worth the price of admission!
For those of us waiting for the next GRRM book, this is a great appetizer to tide us over before the feast. Plus it continues the story Dunk and Egg from the first Legends. The narrator is excellent. I'm not a Pern fan, but if you are you might enjoy that one also.

Both storys are good
I downloaded this book for the Anne McCaffrey story she is one of favorite authors. I found both storys good. The Anne McCaffery story 'Beyond Between' explains what happens to Dragon riders who get stuck in between. It was very intertaining and inlightning but way too short.

Beyond Between
A bridging short story to explain the Moretta saga. A little weak on story development, but then this is a fantasy World.
To have more information on what happened, is very nice, this does provide a form of closure for a very loved character from the series.
