Publisher's summary

When Rán Hollander’s sister calls with the news that their father had a tragic accident on Lake Michigan, Rán drops everything and returns to a small town that turned its back on her years earlier. Was the death an accident, a suicide, or something much worse? Rán goes undercover to discover what really happened.

Along the way, Rán discovers an intruder in her grandmother’s Victorian mansion who refuses to leave. It doesn’t help that his dog hates Rán's huge calico cat, Murgatroyd. And don’t forget the so-not-engaged ring that almost ruins Rán's life.

Join the Hollander clan, the divine baker, the ghosts in the cemetery, and the man who ultimately captures Rán’s heart in this family mystery by the author of the Pegasus Quincy Mystery Series.

AI Voice Is Not Ready

The story was fine. Knowing the area well was difficult for me to get into the story. Singapore, MI no longer exists and the surrounding areas are nothing like what the author describes but that was fine, it is fiction. I felt that end was rushed and some plot lines were not addressed but it was a perfectly good light summer read.

The AI narration was awful. It was stilted and odd with lots of mispronunciations and emphasis on the wrong words. And strangely enough the voice sometimes sounded as if it had a sore throat. I found myself having to sort through the narration to understand the tone of most scenes.

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
