About this listen

My name is Danica Knight, and I have a secret…a life-changing, whisper-worthy secret that will more than likely get me killed.

"Trust no one" is the singular phrase my mother had whispered to me when she abandoned me in a small hospital at the young age of eight. It was the only memory I could remember before I came to live with my aunt and uncles here in the largest wolf pack in North America.

After graduating high school and having been accepted into one of the most prestigious paranormal universities in North America, Black Veil University, everything is finally going as planned. Or so I thought before four insanely hot men crashed their way into my life—each with a unique connection to me whether they want it or not. We are tied together. Lives are turned upside down, hearts are torn and shattered, and those deep, dark secrets that I have held hostage start to slip. But when the dark shadows of my past come knocking, I may need every little bit of help I can get.

Knight Ascending is book one of five in the Black Veil University series, which does end on a cliffhanger. This is a university-aged, slow-burn, slow-build paranormal RH romance, which means there will be no choosing between love interests at the end of the story.

This series has darker elements that listeners should be aware of such as strong language, PTSD from kidnapping, assault, and violence.

Great story.

Read this book many times and got the audiobook to listen to while I worked outside and doing menial chores. Just as good to listen to as it was to read

Amazing story

I absolutely love this series and was excited to see it in Audible. The narrators are a couple of my favorites and was excited to see them voicing this story.
In this first book we meet Danica an elemental witch which is considered lowly in this world of shifters and magic. She is off to the Black Veil university where she meets her new roommate Kayla as well as Daxton. Along the way we meet his roommates and best friends Gabriel, Zander, and Roaran.
We also get to meet Remington Dani’s childhood best friend who is coming to college with her. Without giving too much away we see Dani’s connections with the guys starting to grown and some of them are not ok with what is happening.

Duet Narration

I'm a sucker for duet narrations and reverse harems so I decided to get this book. The story is entertaining enough and worth a listen. My only problem is the narrators.
Bridget does an okay job but she seems to really struggle with onomatopoeia. Rather than make the sound "ugh," she pronounces the G, so it sounds like "ugg."
I genuinely don't get the hype around Jake Bordeux. Whenever he tries to do a sexy voice he reminds me of my autistic cousin who just shouts things with no tonal inflection. He also has no range. He does the same voice for every single male character.
All that being said, I still think it's worth a listen.

good character development entire series

great series overall. I couldn't help but really get sucked into the characters even though the plot had some holes. some of the books had a little too much spice which I think detracted from the characters a tad. but I do really love each and every character and their changes throughout the series. worth it.

Loved the story and the performance

I listened to this book having no real idea what the story was going to be, just had it recommended and felt like giving it a chance. I am so glad that I did. The story was interesting, held my attention the entire time and couldn't wait to start the second book immediately after the first finished. I really liked how the voice actors narrated this, with the male voice taking over and voicing all the male parts, even during the female lead's chapters. It felt immersive and really brought the story to life.

Need the next one!!!!!

Fantastic new series!! Suspense level is on point as is the spice factor. Narrators perfect in this as they portray many characters- giving each their own voice if you will. The next book is desperately needed! Please hurry!!!

Sucked me in

Dani has had a rough life not remembering anything before she woke up in a hospital at age 9 and struggles with ptsd, health problems, trust issues and some social awkwardness but seems to have a heart of gold. Being a witch in love with the alphas son makes life hard especially when he doesn’t seem to notice she alive. She off to college but she gets more then she bargains for. This story is fast paced with all the emotions. Narrators brought this story to life and gave me all the feels. I love when I get the feels!

Good Start to the Series

Can’t wait for the rest of the series. Female voice is better than some that she has read in the past (maybe a tad dee

DUET (not dual narration)

This book is done in DUET narration. This is the only thing I want to know when I read reviews meaning the man speaks ONLY male parts. And female speaks ONLY female parts
