Publisher's summary
"I'm sorry for what I did to you when you were younger."
When Jane Epstein's brother makes this confession, a tsunami of memories floods over her. She remembers the years of sexual abuse at his hands. The pain. The shame.
Suffering from trauma few talk about, Epstein searches for solace in strip clubs and hotel rooms. She finds love, loses it, and loves again. Years pass before she dares to dive into the depths of her past. Only then does she begin to heal.
Though nothing can restore a stolen childhood, and nothing can reclaim lost innocence, I Feel Real Guilty is more than the raw, unfiltered tale of one woman wrestling with her demons. It's a call to arms, an invitation to survivors to speak out and reclaim their power. Epstein's story shines a spotlight on the secrets of sibling sexual abuse, providing a ray of hope and strength for those still trapped in their own private darkness.

Story
The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

The drumbeat of discontent starts getting imperceptibly louder and louder until one day you just can’t ignore it any longer… That was me, a few years back. My solution? To completely walk out of my life into the unknown… Part of that unknown was a life-changing road trip through Spain in a campervan, on my own. Bats can hear shapes, plants can eat light, and bees can dance maps. When his life took him to a painfully dark place, the poet behind The CryptoNaturalist, Jarod K. Anderson, found comfort and redemption in these facts and the shift in perspective that comes from paying a new kind of attention to nature. Something in the Woods Loves You tells the story of the darkest stretch of a young person’s life, and how deliberate and meditative encounters with plants and animals helped him see the light at every turn.

Raw, riveting and inspiring
Jen Epstein's story left me with a profound sense of admiration. Jane's bravery and introspection in sharing her experiences of sibling abuse from the tender ages of six to twelve were both heart-wrenching and inspiring. Her journey from victimhood to survival, and ultimately becoming an advocate for others, has profoundly impacted me. It is a testament to her strength and resilience that she was able to transform her life in such a remarkable way.
