Through his typical style, Dr. Aziz uses engaging stories, humor, and disarming vulnerability to cut through the nice conditioning and liberate the most bold, expressive, authentic version of you.

  • Confidently and effectively ask for what you want
  • Speak up more freely in all your relationships

Exceeded My Expectations

Would you listen to Not Nice again? Why?

Absolutely. I was pleasantly surprised how helpful this was. Lot's of "AH HA!" moments. I'll be referencing back to the content many times I'm sure.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The author himself.

Which character – as performed by Dr. Aziz Gazipura PsyD – was your favorite?

Again, the author himself.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

How to instantly take control of your life and happiness.

Any additional comments?

This was a real revelation. I think I'm getting a handle on controlling my time now and it feels great. I thought it would mean being a jerk, but once you understand it correctly you see it's not that at all. Great stuff!

Aziz has changed my life

This is my second book of his I've read. He is a master at enacting lasting change. I'm not only more confident, but am so much happier than I've ever been. For the first time, I feel like I understand my emotions. And I understand how fear is everywhere in our lives even when we don't realize it. I've been following Aziz for a few months now, and the results still haven't faded. I've worked on my confidence plenty of times before, but I've never had such consistent and long-lasting results. Thanks, Aziz.

Right on Target

I bought this book because I suspected, by its title, that it would have some good advice for me. I knew that in some ways, I was too nice. I was pleasantly surprised to found out that it DIRECTLY hit my problem area. I am too nice and yes, that can cause problems, especially at work where my time is tracked. My overly-niceness benefitted a lot of people as I helped them out in their day to day problems in a form of mentoring. But that led to an continually decreasing work output for me as more and more "newbies" came to me for help. It is easy to say I'm a "helper" by nature. I think many people are. But Dr. Aziz asked the pointed questions, "Did that cause you stress? Did that make you happy? Did you feel you were being taken advantage of? Did it contribute to your overall wellbeing? Was it working for you?" Even though I enjoy mentoring, that was not my job --- that was someone else's job who wasn't doing it well. That resulted in the newbies migrated over to me. I thought I was helping my employer by helping several less-trained people stay on the the right track, make good decisions. and produce a good work product. But I was assessed on my own production, not my mentoring skills. Result? I lost my job. But I realized that my reaction to being asked for help by the newbies is the same reaction I have to many other requests -- it was not a limited situation. I was constantly afraid of what others might think of me--a fear of disapproval (I can trace that back to my childhood). I needed to change. I didn't want to become a jerk, which is not the goal of the book. Instead, the point is to be able to have the courage to enforce your boundaries (I already knew where they were -- I just didn't enforce them). When you do enforce your boundaries, you are being authentic. You are being you. You are being honest. I am well-spoken, so there is no reason why I should not be able to enforce my boundaries and speak my mind without being offensive. I needed this book more than I realized. I now have a new job and I need to be able to set AND enforce boundaries or I will sink my own ship just like I did in my last job.
