About this listen

Off the ice, elite defenseman Hawke Therrien enjoys his fair share of booze and good times. And why shouldn't he? He's worked his way up from the minor leagues and made himself a star. The only thing Hawke misses from that life is the pierced, tattooed free spirit who broke his heart without so much as an explanation. She's almost unrecognizable when she walks back into his life seven years later, except for the look in her eyes that feels like a punch to the gut.

Vale Campbell isn't the same girl she was at 20. As crazy as she had been about Hawke, her reckless behavior and out-of-control drinking had started to scare her. She had to clean up her act, and that never would have happened with Hawke around. Cutting him loose was the hardest thing Vale ever had to do - until now. Because she's still crazy about Hawke, and if he could ever learn to forgive her, they just might have a future together.

Hawke and Vale are so adorable

I'm really loving this series. The couples are great together and the pacing is well done. Hawke and Vale used to be in love, until she cut off their relationship right before he moved across the country. Now, seven years later, they're reunited when Vale gets a trainer position with Hawke's new hockey team. I liked the plot of this and it killed me waiting to find out why Vale broke up with Hawke. He's so sweet, especially with her dad, and they had a cute relationship. Of course there were great romance scenes and the narration was wonderful!

Loved this!

Listening to this 5th audiobook in the Cold Fury hockey series was so entertaining! The hero, Hawke, is a defensive player for the Cold Fury. He's a guy who sleeps casually with women and likes to go out for beers with the guys. But it wasn't always this way, as before starting his Pro hockey career he was deeply in love with a girl named Vale. She broke up with him the night before he left for his first real job and he's been hurt and bewildered ever since. Now suddenly Vale is back in his life working as a trainer for his team and his life gets tilted off his axis. Vale had her reasons for breaking things off, serious reasons, but she was really young seven years ago when it happened. Now Hawke and Vale have to try to build a friendly relationship, complicated by the reason she's in Raleigh to begin with- her dad has brain cancer and is there for treatment. In the course of things, truths come out and both have to decide if they can forgive. Great narration!

Second Chance Sports Romance ❤️🍼🏒💙

Hawk and Vale are a teen item. They are wild and free and so much in love until she has to face an unimaginable loss and hurt. Since hurting people hurt people, she lets him go.

I like second chance romance stories, and when they reconnect seven years later, they are both changed people. I like that they had to work on a second chance and recognize that they have grown and matured. It’s not easy but it is attainable. They have to let go of past hurts and miscommunications.

It’s a good listen/read. The narrators do a good job.

Hawke and Vale

A true second chance at rebuilding a lost love. Their feelings for each other never completely went away, but the hurt that Vale put on Hawke left it's mark. Vale herself was harboring a bit of resentment but not just for Hawke, for the choices she made. Their attempt at putting it behind them will be tested.
I am enjoying the narrators of the series and like that they have remained the same. Both Cris Dukehart and Graham Halstead have done a great job so far.

Hawke & Vale

An emotional, heartbreaking, but extremely beautiful second chance romance. Hawke and Vale get their second chance which takes them on a journey of growth, forgiveness, respect, and unconditional love. I adored everything about this book.

Hawke & Vale

The overall story was good but needed more substance. They were teenagers who fell in love and just living recklessly until Vale needed Hawke. He was immature, wasn’t there for her, became a manwhore with plenty of one night stands and hardly ever thinking of her until they meet 7 years later. Vale broke up with Hawke because he wanted to party before his season started and refused to be with her. Vale suffered a loss and went through by herself.

Another great story

Hawke is a part of the Cold Fury storyline and is book five in the series. As with each of the other books, this can be read without reading the other books in the series, but be aware that you may have spoilers about other teammates. I really enjoyed the voices of the narrating duo as they are able to really get into the characters and bring them to life. For me, this story was more of a second chance romance. Hawke and Vale were serious back before he was drafted and the night before leaving she breaks it off. Now seven years later, they end up both with the Cold Fury team. Hawke is still hurt over the sudden break up so will they be able to get along?

Several things in this book took me by surprise. I kept guessing as to what happened all those years ago and things were not what I expected and then there were even a few more unexpected twists in the plot. I also enjoyed having a few glimpses into the prior teammates and what was going on in their lives. I personally would have enjoyed even more than a glimpse of these players. They are like a big family and the author makes you want to be able to keep in touch with them as the become like friends. I’m looking forward to book six in the series which is also narrated by the same duo.
