About this listen

Welcome to Chipping Cheddar, where supernaturals are hidden in plain sight!

Residents are sneezing and coughing all over town, and it seems like a brutal allergy season is upon us - until someone dies. When Dr.Verity reveals a supernatural cause, I'm on the case, but how do I track a culprit whose only evidence seems to be the infection it leaves behind?

In the meantime, neighbors, new and old, bring trouble to Munster Close, and I need to intervene before the wicked witches escalate matters. With the annual cheese festival on the horizon and a stealthy demon on the loose, I know I'll need to set aside my misgivings and use my magic to prevent a catastrophe.

Can I stop this outbreak before it becomes a full-fledged epidemic, or will the entire town succumb to the deadly demon? Grace Under Fury is a full-length, humorous, paranormal cozy mystery with demon action and a budding romance.

Narrator Boo

I like this series, but this narrator makes this installment barely tolerable. listen to the sample first.

My New Go-To Read

This sassy and bright book was well written. It is now one of my Go-To reads. When I get tired of other series or voices, this will definitely get me out of my funk. The narrators is great. The book was put together so well. Most of all I love the family dynamics. Give it a read, give it a try, and give it five stars.

Paranormal Goes Viral - 3.5 stars

We return to Chipping Cheddar on the precipice of the annual cheese festival when a sudden illness descends on the town and begins taking lives. I will say listening to this story in the middle of the pandemic is much different than when this story was originally released (May 2019). There is a formally unknown virus that takes over the town that appears somewhat flu like but is lethal especially to more vulnerable parts of the population. There are a few scenes that made me cringe slightly, again reading this in our current real world situation (Eden mocks her colleague for wearing a mask because he is afraid of contracting the virus and Eden makes fun of some folks who are offering to spritz them with sanitizer as they enter a large public event). The focus of the story goes much more into discovering a paranormal cause for this virus and having to enlist more of a team effort including her family members to help stop this situation from getting further out of hand. I enjoyed that there was more magic used throughout the story, I mean this is a paranormal cozy and previous books seemed to just reference magic happens without showing it. But in this volume we see more magic occurring in front of the listener. Although at times the use of magic seems haphazard, Eden utilizes invisibility at one point through a means she always has on her but later is causing a major scene and struggling to explain her actions and as the listener I was confused why not utilize the invisibility again? The tensions within her family continue in a way that felt more fun. I have to admit I am at a bit of a loss of what makes Eden a Fury and how this magic is terribly different than other magic users and I feel like much of the fury powers are made mostly aesthetic and somewhat downplayed in a passing comment or two. Which feels odd given this is literally the ongoing series title in the stories. I am enjoying meeting some of the other witches in town as well as feeling more interaction with Eden's family in general. There is some light ongoing romance happening at the edges but honestly that is the least interesting aspect of these stories and the tension can feel a little contrived. I felt this volume was better than the last and I am definitely interested in continuing the series. The stories are an easy listen and they breeze by quickly if you have a slow day to listen to one.
