About this listen

A 10 million dollar MMORPG tournament. An invincibility hack gone wrong. Welcome to MythRune.

With his glory days behind him and nothing but life as a loser to look forward to, Zane can’t wait for MythRune. A first-of-its-kind immersive fantasy game that promises to provide just the escape from reality a washed-up athlete like him needs.

But when his younger brother learns he only has weeks left to live, Zane is forced to take his gaming to the next level if he’s going to afford to pay for his brother’s operation and ditch their sorry life forever.

To celebrate the launch of MythRune, the game’s developers announce a worldwide player tournament. The prize? Ten million dollars. More than enough.

Utilizing a God Mode bug to make himself invincible, Zane aims to win it all without getting caught.

But it doesn’t work as planned. Between pain-sensitivity glitches, exploitative players, a reworked world map, and a leveling system unlike anything he’s ever seen, Zane realizes there’s much more to pro gaming than staying alive.

From the authors behind Djinn Tamer comes a brand-new LitRPG series that combines fresh twists with everything you love about the genre - skill trees, leveling, magic systems, party-building, and so much more.

Meh

There is nothing particular wrong with the story and the concept of leveling up and the like is relatively unique, but there was not spectacularly amazing about it either, sadly. So I will probably pass on the next one.

A god mode cheat, what could go wrong?

A brother with a failing heart, a new VRMMORPG with a 10 million dollar tournament, and one god mode cheat that worked in beta, what could go wrong?

Derek Siddoway creates and interesting world in which many things are possible. If you can get past some of the plot holes in regards to the God mode cheat itself and play interactions the game in which the book itself is set is quite interesting and has some unique twists for LTIRPG. This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

A super fun adventure.

If you like books that go into detail about the landscape and how pretty the flowers are. Taking the time to describe the smell of the animals. This book is definitely not for you. However, if you want to be taken to a world where clever and strong players do everything they can to get ahead. Then you will enjoy this book. The interaction between the main character and his companion are super entertaining. The world, leveling, and skill system are intriguing.

LitRPG with Heart

I received a free review copy.

Zane (aka Zee) and his brother discover God Mode on an MMORPG. A tournament with a 10 million dollar prize is up for grabs. They could really use it since Zane's brother will die without a heart transplant. Zane enters the game but his pain threshold is stuck at 100% and other players are stealing his loot and find out about his cheat. He ends up working with one of these rogues out of necessity. Together, they complete quests as they try to get a token to make it into the tournament.

I really enjoyed LitRPG. It has some exciting moments as they face bosses. Due to God mode interacting with various gane rules, there are unique challenges that they have to solve. I especially liked how the MC shows emotion abd how the relationships develop over the course of the book and look forward to seeing where it leads. This is a LitRPG that has heart. The narration was good.

Enjoyed the twist on the genre.

While not the most outstanding LitRPG I’ve listen to, I did enjoy the different way the MC was written. He set out to make an overpowered character by using a bug he discovered in the Beta of the game, due to changes between the Beta and the official release he got his OP character; but with a few unexpected quirks.
