Goat Lips delivers a thought-provoking romp through a lapsed Englishman's life, who - after a quarter century of living in the United States - realized he'd neglected to renew his subscription to England.

Matthew's relentless wit and insight is front and center as we bounce between England and the United States, experiencing one hilarious, and sometimes poignant, tale after another - from escaping the clutches of the law to the pain and joy of parenthood, discovering the dangers of real ale and the agony of not being heard, whilst savoring a fiery dessert, the glamour of show business, the awkwardness of nakedness, and the utter wrongness of a Jesus piñata! His ability to question the assumptions of everyday life with a wry grin, tender touch, and a twinkle in his kind eyes makes Matthew's tales endlessly entertaining. You'll want to hear them more than once and even share them aloud with others in your best English accent.

Jolly good!

I had only relatively low expectations for this book. Typically, short stories don't quite hit the mark for me. Also, English humor usually strikes me as trying to be funny, but not actually attaining the goal. However, Goat Lips way overachieved on both levels! All of the stories ranged from reasonably funny to hilarious; except for the few that were meant to be poignant. The narration was also excellent, adding another layer of enjoyment to a very fine book. This was a most enjoyable change of pace from what I usually enjoy. I encourage you to let Matthew Taylor bring new meaning to goat lips, and several other things, with his work. I received this book for free in exchange for an unbiased review.

Superb!

I have (or had) no idea who Matthew Taylor is. But with a title like "Goat Lips" I had to listen. So funny! So many different levels of humor and all of them clever. I look forward to listening to this one again very soon - something that I rarely ever do. I still don't really know who Mr Taylor is (had to google him) but I certainly know lots about him and I like what I know. I do hope this is not his only book. More please!!
He does a good job narrating - lots of emotion and inflections come through. I gave this an overall of 5 stars but only 4 on performance and story. The sum is greater than its parts.
I was gifted this fabulous audiobook in exchange for an honest opinion.

Hilarious look at the life of a comedian

Fascinating look into the life of a comedian and how everyday situations become the fuel for his comedy. The story of the "goat lips" is prevalent throughout the book in its scope and impact. Love the line about jiggle stoppers. Great read great narration. Optimum listening speed 1.25. I received this audiobook for free from the author narrator or publisher for free via audiobookblast in exchange for an unbiased review.

Great Storyteller

Where does Goat Lips rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This audiobook is great! The narrator delivers a variety of personal stories from the author's life while living in the United States and abroad. Most of these stories are amusing, but some are touching, while others are pee-your-pants funny. The narration of this audiobook is excellent; the author's wry sense of humor is communicated effectively. Time will fly by when you are listening to this audiobook!

Real Ale, Marsh Flat, Talking Goat

What made the experience of listening to Goat Lips the most enjoyable?

The humor, a subtle absurdity, and great narration.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Matthew Taylor, this is autobiographical. The situational story telling and the subtle NON "look at me! Aren't I funny?" presentation.

Which character – as performed by Matthew Taylor – was your favorite?

Uhh... Matthew Taylor? Though the sight seeing driver who stole the car keys was up there too.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did! And will again.

Any additional comments?

Matthew has connections to Denver, Colorado (my local haunt) as well as other locations and those references were fun. Funny! Not in the slapstick sense. Love this storytelling, funny work.Thank you for letting me review it.This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of AudiobookBoom dot com.
