Publisher's summary

Larue Donavan is a bookstore owner by day and psychic medium ghost buster by night. Just when she thought she'd gotten rid of the pesky ghosts following her, a new ghostly entourage has appeared. Her new group of ghoul friends includes a celebrity...the ghost of Mae West. And does Mae ever have dating advice for Larue!

When a stranger shows up in Magnolia, Kentucky, things take a turn for the worse. Larue's new love interest, Callahan Weiss, barista extraordinaire, isn't sure if Larue is interested in what he's got brewing. Something weird is going on in town and Larue's best friend, Mindy, is in danger. Has a demon followed Larue home from an investigation? Is the new man in town to blame for the strange occurrences? Not only is Larue trying to save Mindy, but the coven leader wants Larue to use her new spellbinding talents and become a full-time witch. Larue's not sure she's ready for her new paranormal gift though. If Larue doesn't find the source of the evil soon, she may lose all she holds dear.

Seems like a repeat of book One!

To be fair I liked this book, I just felt it was a repeat of the first in the series. So a=many of the same elements that happened in the first book. Really, your boyfriend and BFF are both acting out of character, and you didn't think it was a spell right off?

I like Larue, most of the time. She just has this whole mopey thing that gets tired. For somebody who has the ability to see ghosts her whole life, she doesn't know very much about out them. She has some great moments, but it is hard to get past the immature dialogue and her flighty actions.

My liking of the first book is what kept me reading long after I was bored to tears. I might go on to the next book in the series, but if it is rehashing the same plot, I will be done with this ghoul!

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Elizabeth Klett, who does a fantastic job. She has a great tone that transcends the youthful dialogue. Had she not kept the maturity in her read, this could have been a very different review. Her pace is terrific, just swift enough to keep the story moving when it lagged. Her voices were great, she didn't try to butch it up for the men but she did give them a masculine touch. I will definitely be looking for more of her reads!

Overall, I have wanted to love these reads but end up underwhelmed. They have such fun covers and engaging blurbs.

Disclosure – I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts opinions and ratings are my own.

East Listen

Sweet easy read. Light hearted and entertaining. A little predictable; however, it does have some twist at the end. Enjoy the book

Book 2

Any additional comments?

Ghouls Night Out was just as funny as Me and My Ghoulfriends. Larue's ghostly friends are a delight and there is something about this audobook that made this hard to put down...you can't go wrong with a Rose Pressey books, very entertaining.

Entertaining, but...

These are fun, entertaining paranormal mysteries, but this one was too much like the first one.

Larue is back!

Have you listened to any of Elizabeth Klett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is the 3rd novel read by Ms. Klett that I have listened to. She is a wonderful narrator. Her Mae West was spot on. In addition to the 1st Larue Donavan book, I also listened to How to Survive Your Sisters in which Ms. Klett had an English accent. She is such a talented narrator that until I asked her, I had no idea if she was from England or the USA.

Any additional comments?

Larue is back with a new group of ghost friends. This time they include Callahan's grandfather Seth, the owner of a house that was being haunted Anthony and Mae West. Yes, that Mae West. When a new guy comes to town and Larue's BFF Mindy has a personality shift, Larue wonders if he is using black magic. In the search to find out, the latest ghost gang helps out by spying for Larue. Is the mystery guy to blame for Mindy's change in behavior or is there someone else. Also, Anthony the ghost takes a liking to Larue and causes a little rift between her and Callahan. Will Larue be able to explain everything to Callahan or is he going to be lost to her ... again.

Ghouls Night Out is a charming cozy paranormal mystery that is full of interesting characters. I really enjoyed this book's group of ghosts. They were very interesting and had quite the personalities. I would recommend this book to my friends who like a little mystery with their paranormal. Suitable for ages 13+.
