About this listen
Unspoiled by her beauty or wealth, Sarah Clarke travels an arduous journey by stagecoach to inherit the Arrow C cattle ranch left to her by the grandfather she never knew. However, the ranch foreman, a half-breed Indian called Storm, also claims legal ownership.
The rugged, impassioned young man arouses conflicting emotions in Sarah. Because her own father was killed by Indians, she is first frightened by Storm and his ranch hands. Yet fear quickly gives way to love as his tenderness and compassion stir her heart. Although Storm's kisses convince Sarah that he feels the same, he admits that he is betrothed to another. Infuriated, Sarah vows to stop Storm from entering a loveless marriage. But how?
Vividly evoking the danger and excitement of life in Texas in the 1800s, Forbidden Legacy is a captivating story of love, faith, and adventure.

Good Historical Western Romance!
Sarah is traveling West from Chicago with her great aunt to visit a Texas ranch she inherited from her grandfather. Her father was killed by American Indians, and when she learns that her escort to the ranch is a group of Indians led by a half white/half Indian man named Storm, she's terrified.
Storm convinces Sarah to try to get to know the men as individuals. Slowly, Sarah learns to trust the men and overcome her prejudices. Just when she starts to feel more comfortable and begins to fall in love with Storm, he reveals that things at the ranch aren't so simple.
This was a sweet clean read with a Christian message. Barbara Goss doesn't gloss over the prejudices of the time period, but uses them to strengthen her message. Sarah was raised as a rich lady, but she adjusted well to the hard work on the ranch. Storm was honorable and protective, and didn't let the prejudice shown against his race cause bitterness.
Leon Nixon did a great job with the narration, the story is told from Sarah's point of view, but with a male narrator it felt like Storm had a voice as well. I received a copy of the audiobook, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.

Adventure, Love, and overcoming prejudice
I have listened to several books by Barbara Goss and found this one to be enjoyable. This is a clean listen that has lesson in it. I liked how the main character overcame her prejudice. The narrator was new to me and I thought he did a good job. My review is not a synopsis of the book, but rather my opinion of it. I was provided with this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Wonderful Legacy 🌼
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! This story has grit, charm, and a lot of faith. It doesn't shy away from topics like racial prejudices and shows Christianity in an honest light. I especially enjoyed the character of Storm who is half Native American. I'm biased, however, because he totally reminded me of the love of my life who also happens to be half Native. This clean read is such a well written journey of life and love. I highly recommend. 💕
The narrator read fabulously. Every character was spot on. Looking forward to more of his narration. 👏

Loving someone you can't. . . .
Sarah Clarke finds herself inheriting her grandfather's Texas ranch. There are a few problems though, one she is a city girl, two most of the cowboys who come to escort her to the ranch are Indians and her father was killed by Indians, and three, the "half-breed" foreman also claims ownership of the ranch.
Storm knows that he is the legal owner of the Arrow C ranch, he just cannot find the paper that states that fact. He wants nothing more than to find the paper and get rid of Sarah until he meets her. His heart quickly falls for this beautiful blond city girl as well as most of his cow hands.
Together Sarah and Storm fight prejudices, a long trip full of dangers both animal and human. The biggest difficulty for this couple is the connection they have for one another even though they both want the ranch for themselves no matter what.
I really enjoyed this book! It is one of Barb's best! Leon Nixon did a great job telling this story and his characters were wonderful! I look forward to listening to more of his narrations!

Utopia
Author Barbara Goss does not hesitate to tackle the hard and forbidden topics. Here she takes on discrimination, specifically as practiced against the Native Americans in the 19th century. While somewhat Utopian in some aspects, the issues are spelled out clearly while the plot takes you on a voyage of eye-opening discovery. A couple of hours in the car with the kids shouting "Are we there yet?" is nothing compared to weeks in a stagecoach or wagon or on horseback (or even walking) crossing the vast expanses of countryside. And then there is the mystery of the missing will and the convoluted relationships.
Leon Nixon's relaxed narration [AUDIO] ably captures the vocal nuances of the various characters, adding to the drama and enjoyment of the adventures at the Arrow C!

Finding Love
ALmost every story that the wonderful Barbara Goss writes, has so many wonderful messages that speak to the heart and soul. Although set many years past a lot of what this says is true today. That there are many prejudices where there should not be as we should all love one another.
Coming from wealth and a social life in Boston, Sarah Clarke takes a journey when she finds that her grandfather, who she had never met, left her a cattle ranch in Texas. Her escort is a half breed Indian called Storm. She is at first terrified of him and all the Indians that accompany their journey. But things begin to change slowly as the story unfolds.
With the wonderful spot on narration by Leon Nixon and the words of Barbara Goss, this story held me enthralled until the last page. Simply lovely.
