Beth Montgomery seems to have the perfect life: a beautiful house in the hills above Los Angeles, a handsome, ambitious husband, and plans of starting a family. So it doesn't occur to her to worry when the news breaks of a quadruple homicide across town, a botched drug deal that leaves an undercover officer among the dead. Beth certainly would never think to tie the murders to the sudden reappearance in her life of wild, sexy Cassie Ogilvy, the estranged best friend she hasn't seen since they were college roommates.

Love, Love, Love this series!!!!
Mackenzie August is a great character and this is a great series!!
I think this listen benefits from having listened to the first two books (it helps to understand who Kicks is and why the Cristiano Ronaldo lookalike sleeps on Mackenzie's floor) but it is a good enough mystery on its own. There are actually three mysteries, all of them complex enough not to be an easy solve, and all being treated to the special Mackenzie August wit and intellect. I swear my vocabulary grows from just listening to this book.
All is revealed in the end of this really fun and funny (well, Mackenzie is funny anyway) and the seriously messed up trio of mysteries are solved. There should definitely be a book four (based on how this one ended) but unfortunately, it's not yet available.

Mackenzie August Returns!
This was another fine entry in the series. This time, August has to investigate a string of burglaries in a rather exclusive neighborhood. Secrets abound and nothing is quite what it seems. Meanwhile, Mackenzie investigates the death of one of the women he dated while continuing to try to sort out his feelings for Veronica Summers. Good stuff. With a wonderful supporting cast, August's laugh out loud humor, and another fantastic performance by Scott Ellis, this one is fun! I wish the author (who writes as Alan Lee) and Audible would go ahead and have the rest of the books in the series recorded. Scott Ellis fits these books perfectly! More please!

As usual, the story is mixed with an array of characters and excellent narration. The plot continues to surprise you making want to keep driving around just to keep the book going. Fantastic series
This is the third book in this series and is as good as the first two. Mackenzie is hired to find out who's robbing from the rich in an affluent neighborhood, in the end Ronnie's third secret is revealed. You will have to listen to the audible to find out what it is, it surprised me! I'm excited for the next book to be released on audible.
Scott Ellis is perfect as narrator for this series, I was thrilled to find he narrates all I've listened to do far.

Secrets Never Remain Secret!
Mackenzie August arrives to pick up his date/friend and finds she has been killed, not trusting the police to find her killer he starts his own investigation stepping on toes along the way. This is also the book where Mac also learns what Veronica’s third secret is, and it is a shocking reveal. Scott Ellis continues to provide perfect narration, he is the voice of Mackenzie August, I truly hope that never changes as the series continues. Alan Lee is fast moving to the top of my list; I’m looking forward to what comes next in the series. I received this audiobook from the author at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Humorous and quirky
This mystery is just as humorous and quirky as the previous books in this series, but it's not quite as engaging. The characters are great, though, and
Scott Ellis has really made these characters his. His performance is outstanding.
The next book in the series was previewed at the end of this one and I can't wait to review it.
