Publisher's summary

One little white lie—that's all it took. Now I'm suddenly having to fake-date my work nemesis to get through a week at a Vermont Christmas lodge with my family.

The problem? I can't stand Miles Taylor. Not only that, but I don't date people I work with. But I can handle it. I've had practice faking my emotions for years. So it shouldn't matter that Miles never lets me get away with anything. And that he happens to boil my blood hotter than a steaming pot of wassail. So when he throws his annoying grin my way or forces me on dates he knows I'll hate, I'll just grit my teeth and smile.

Or maybe not.

Did I mention that Miles is the one person in the world I can't seem to fool? When my emotions begin feeling less like a sham and his arms feel way too comfortable, it makes me think that maybe Miles had a plan of his own. And I'm starting to like it a lot more than mine.

Even better as an audiobook!

I loved the book when it first came out, and the narrator did such a good job that she made it even better to listen to!

Olive's life as a self-manifesting doormat was a bit hard to listen to at first. Hearing how her constant conflicts with Miles eventually ends up bringing out the best of them both was fun & romantic. Definitely worth the credit!

*Romance level: passionate kisses, but nothing graphic

*Potential trigger: heroine is dealing with the anniversary of loss of a parent to cancer, not depressing or overly detailed, mainly discussion of how we move forward & remember

Swoony and hilarious

This was an absolute delight. Lots of swoon without the heat. I laughed , I cried, and I couldn’t wait to keep listening. The narrator did a delightful job, and I adore Cindy Steele’s up close and deep first person writing style.

Cindy knocked it out of the park again!

This book is so good. Just so good. If you want a romance with sizzling good romance, but the door stays closed, choose this book. If you love a lighthearted read that still contains depth and emotion and sometimes difficult backstories the characters have to work through, choose this book. If you love a good character arc, choose this book. If you love a swoony hero or a snarky heroine, choose this book. If you love cameos from quirky family members and cute little kids, an ex-boyfriend who gets shown up, hilarity in the form of things like polar jumps and sledding, and good old fashioned Christmas celebrations at a good old fashioned farm, choose this book. Basically this book has all the things you want in a really good Christmas read, and should not be missed. Loved it!
