Publisher's summary

Once upon a time, a handsome prince asked the academy wallflower to the ball. She was blinded by the stars in her own eyes and the pitter-patter of her lonely heart. Little did she know this prince was no prince at all, but a villain disguised behind a charming smile.

Ella

There are no such things as fairy tales or happily ever afters. Not in my world. My reality is riddled with pain and loss and immense hatred.

Until him.

Trayton Nacht, the new transfer student at Darlington Academy.

Something about his darkness calls to me. The way his eyes glimmer in the night and the cruelty of his handsome smile.

With a single glance, he turned my world inside out. And now I can't get enough.

But what if he's just like the rest of them? What if this is all just another masquerade?

Tray

She stole my heart, once upon a time. Three years ago in an alley where she left me with a pair of sodden blue slippers.

Her life had been mine for the taking, until I discovered the fae magic lurking beneath her skin. Now it's time to recruit her, to take her to her fate.

But first, we'll play a little game.

One that will end in destruction.

Because f--k fairy godmothers.

What Ella needs is a Dark Fae.

One who can help her burn Darlington Academy to the ground.

A Dark Fae like me.

Author Note: This is a dark Cinderella retelling with strong bully elements. This M/F PNR features a happily ever after ending and is also the prequel to the Midnight Fae Academy Why Choose Trilogy. Tray and Ella are important characters throughout the series.

Cinderella Inspired with a delicious dark fae twist

While this story is definitely based on the Cinderella fairytale, there is also very much a 10 Things I Hate About You vibe to it, and a very deliciously dark fae, magical twist to it. Ella and Tray’s relationship definitely starts off on a rocky foot, given Ella’s history with bullies and needing to protect herself, but when they finally get past all the mistrust, their relationship sizzles in every way possible. I probably took a little too much joy in the payback and revenge, but it was all so much fun to read. And the dynamic between Ella and Tray is fantastic, her snark and sass to his alpha, cocky ego; but underneath it all, we get her vulnerability, and his need to protect and support her, it what makes them such a great couple in the end.

Fabulous story about Tray &Ella

Both VO actors did a super job-Ella sounded exactly like I imagined when I read the story on Kindle.
The story connects The Midnight Fae Academy series and is best to listen or read BEFORE you start Midnight Fae.
I loved this take on Cinderella too! Overall. Just a fun, easy& sexy romance to listen to when you don’t want extreme intensity.

Just perfect. *chef's kiss*

What a creative spin on the famous Cinderella tale. Just so you know, this is NOT YA. There's sex and language, and I'm living for it. I'm not normally a huge fan of the Fae, but Trayton Nacht managed to change my mind whole-heartedly (especially as a Midnight Dark Fae)! Lessa Lamb's voice for him was seriously like ASMR to my ears. Loved every bit of this story! For once, the Hero was everything you would want in a mate from the get-go. I was dreading something terrible would happen to their revenge plans, but I'm glad to report that the bullies actually get what's coming to them! I thought there was going to be a twist with Dash at the end, like maybe he's also part you-know... but alas, it wasn't meant to be. I'm also happy to hear that this won't be the last we've seen of Elle & T! Can't wait to listen to the next book.

Everything

I can't even describe how much I enjoyed this book! I usually stay away from any type of fairy tale retelling because who wants to hear the same old stories again, right!? This story had everything I didn't know I wanted with a sprinkle of fairy tale innuendo but with nothing cheesy. So many amazing moments, the fighting between enemies and lovers, the deception, the magic, the mating, OMG the sex!! One scene in particular was descriptive, detailed and long enough to get in all the steamy feels! This also built such a good world for an epic PNR only better because they threw in a RH for the next trilogy! Can't wait to start the series!!!

Sweet love story!

Everything about this book was great. I love how strong and forgiving Elle is and how their love story played out. Tray and Elle’s are a great match in every way.

Amazing start!

I Really enjoyed this story! I'm sad that it's the prequel but excited to see how it all comes together. Loved the character build, the banter, and just the right amount of heat!! Love a good HEA but hearing the epilogue I see much more drama coming their way and I can't wait.

Cute!

Very Boy Meets World mixed with Twilight-esque. Excellent story. Lovely performance. A happy lil story I recommend. Especially as background for the Midnight Fae Academy series.

Mean Girls meet Cinder-Ella!

This was a charming prequel to the Midnight Fae Academy Series. I would liken it to Cookie Dough. It’s gooey and sweet in all the right places and I can’t wait to see how the cookies turn out in the next episode. It is a dark twist on our classic beloved fairy tale Cinderella. However, there are no pumpkins or Fairy Godmothers. There is a handsome dark fairy guardian though, who will sweep you off of your feet after you feel the urge to drown him first. I do feel like this novel was aimed more towards the YA group rather than Lexi’s typical audience. I also feel like this novel focused so much on revenge that it lost a little bit of that character connection. I can’t wait to see how their story develops in the future and watch as that relationship grows. I think this was just a spoon licking teaser for what is to come.

Loved this story!!

The introduction in to the Midnight world was perfect while being introduced to the two main characters, Tray and Ella.

Ella’s Masquerade is a Fairytale retell of the classic Cinderella with a dark twist. I loved how their relationship evolved and felt how much Tray cared for Ella. We also got to meet Tray’s royal family including Prince Kohls which I’m sure we will be getting to know better within the rest of this series.

I can’t wait to see where this tale takes us!
