Publisher's summary

Will a drastic change in Clay’s dungeon be enough to prepare the local Heroes for the next World Threat?

Becoming a Dungeon Core was the last thing that Clayburnside Shuntwise had ever thought he would become, but unfortunately, he didn’t really have a choice. However, after Clay fully embraced his new existence, he thoroughly applied himself to train the local Hero population to defend against the gigantic monsters that threatened the entire world.

After the devastating losses that the Heroes (and Clay) suffered after the destruction of the last Threat, the Dungeon Core knew that he needed to step up his efforts. The Heroes were already working hard in their five-person groups, of course, slowly improving as they delved through his dungeon, but that wasn’t going to be quite enough if they were going to be ready for the appearance of next Threat. Therefore, Clay needed to do something that hadn’t ever been done before by a Core: Open up his dungeon for larger groups of Heroes, so that they could learn to work as a more cohesive team.

But even if he overcomes the challenges of completely overhauling the format of his dungeon, the rest of the world is quickly learning about the changes happening on the relatively isolated Sunfall Island where Clay’s dungeon now resides. Not only will Clay have to deal with a double dose of external threats to his existence, but if he doesn’t figure out how to survive and thrive, he’ll have nothing to show for all the work that he has put into making the world a safer place.

Note: This audiobook contains Dungeon Core, LitRPG, and GameLit elements including dungeon construction and defense, monster summoning, character progression, and a game-like interface. In addition, many of the probabilities the world is based upon are similar to Gacha-type mechanics. Contains no profanity, harems, or explicit sexual content.

I really enjoyed this captivating book and can't wait for more in the series.

Fun and Exciting

Double or nothing was even better than the first dungeon of chance book. The gained more depth and the character's all got a reasonable strength increase, but my favorite part of this series is how closely the lives of adventurers and the dungeon are intertwined.

Are you ready for a chance?

This is as usual a standard book with great progression we begins in with our teams is growing then we enter protagonist and then we get the resolution while at the same time we're also getting ourselves ready for the next book This is Jonathan At his finest

Fun listening

I liked the unique perspective of a sentient dungeon. Also enjoyed the story line of the hero group. I've never read a book that did both. Entertaining and interesting second book.

A very weighted Gatcha.

The story does a very good job of picking up from where the previous book left off. Jonathan Brooks does a great job of introducing the new elements, and dropping all sorts of hints (but no solid give-aways) that there's a greater force influencing things. The flow and balance of the story also progresses wonderfully. The implementation of the 'Raid Mode' for the dungeon is also done extremely well, and segues both into the ongoing events outside the dungeon as well as working well for the expanded options for the heroes, so that everything gets highlighted well. Really, this book is going a good enough direction that aside from the very Gatcha-ness of the system I kinda wish a game developer would take note of it and work with Jonathan Brooks to develop a game based on it. Although he's had several other good settings, some of which are well inspired by games, none of them have felt as well balanced, especially from the MC's perspective, for progressing it from being GameLit to being a Game (and this one feels like it could really do that transition well, if worked with in the right way). I can hardly wait for the next volume to come out.

This story almost had me in tears!

Our protagonist - the non-Hero Clay, Dungeon Core - has his work cut out for him in this book! More heroes! Bigger groups! And even some higher level Heroes come in - but not necessarily to 'save the day'.

You'll have to read/listen. I can't wait for the next!

Jonathan Brooks Delivers the Crunch

The majority of the book is mechanic, growth, and crunch. The later parts have great dynamics between characters and characters, and characters and dungeon making for a strong, entertaining finish.

Even better than the first

The new adventurers really hit their stride and we get the inclination of what kind of powerhouse the island can eventually become. with visitors from across the seas coming to find them we get some extra plotting and drama dashed into the mix of adventure.

Clays cat thing mellows out in this book which was legit the only complaint I had about the first book.

BUG: I only wanted to input the star ratings

I have to type at least fifteen words of information to simply input the star ratings for Overall/Performance/Story, I hope this issue is resolved soon as this review is a waste of space and effort.
